When I was a kid, emo was a bunch of black haired teen boys with a hundred lip piercings screaming their lungs out over their two-hour long relationship while cutting themselves in the school bathroom.

Not this soft rock stuff.

Is American Football really /mu/core anymore? Sure, it's mentioned relatively often, but every time it is posted it's almost universally hated and criticized.

It's not a bad album, and certainly not a bad emo album, but for the best or worst it's becoming one of the most hated records on this board.
>>
>>62556041
So you're what,17-18 tops?
>>
>>62556193
It's a fantastic album for what it is. I have a hard time believing anyone with good taste who grew up in the suburbs during the 90s could hate this album.

AF gets shit because of the exposure it has, caused by being "/mu/core", in neo-mu, the more exposure an album has, the more people will be hating it.
This is nothing new but with the influx of contrarian shitposters you start to see people shitting on that album literally everywhere, which is kind of sad.

Man, don't get me wrong. I love The Black Parade, and FOB wrote some of the most catchy shit of that decade. It just bothers me that the term emo got attached to just that part of the scene and shadowed the origins. And then, as the "scene" got a lot of hate in the media for the depressiond and selfharm stuff, the term "emo" became kind of a negative word to throw around. But well, I'm just a bitter dude that grew too fast, I guess. I like the emo revival scene, though

Let's get one thing straight.

/mu/core is NOT a list of albums /mu/ likes, although there is a lot of overlap.

/mu/core is a list of albums you should be familiar enough before you start posting in /mu/. /mu/core is albums that everybody has an opinion of, and you are thus expected to have one as well.

AF, and indeed, all albums in the list are /mu/core not because /mu/ likes them, but because /mu/ talks about them all the goddamn time.
