I feel bad for not really having anything to contribute, but I don't recognize pretty much any of the music I've seen on these charts

>>62405586
jesus fuck I thought your chart was a moving gif or something for a minute there
>>
>>62405415
He hasn't done anything quite like Circus Maximus (that's folk-ey), and his music gets more electronic and distorted. By electoric, I don't mean electronica, but rather lots of synth sounds rather than the acoustic guitar in Circus Maximus. But he has a lot of variation, even within albums.

Tender Pervert and Poison Boyfriend are art pop, Don't Stop The Night is more electronic.

The albums made from 2008 onwards (Joemus, Hynoprism, Bibliotek, Bambi and especially last year's Turpsycore) use distorted sounds and his voice isn't "clear" as it was in Circus Maximus and Poison Boyfriend.

The Little Red Songbook (1998) is interesting and a style that isn't often heard - a kind of baroque music made using synths - but even within Songbook there's a lot of variation.

Philosophy is extremely varied; I can't really fit it into a category, but RYM says it's Shibuya-kei.

Slender Sherbert is a re-work of most of his songs, that are either distorted or the tune has been altered - fun to listen to, but I don't feel it's for someone who loved Circus Maximus.

I happen to like all of Momus' music, but most people who like Circus Maximus don't like anything else by him.

If I were a new listener, I wouldn't tie Momus to Circus Maximus but instead I'd just listen to it and see how it is - if you're looking for more Circus Maximus, there's some there in Tender Pervert and Poison Boyfriend (PB being most like Circus Maximus in my judgement) but it's by no means the defining characteristic.

Treat Momus like Momus, not like Circus Maximus (even though a masterpiece) - that way you'll see what you like without judging it by one of his styles. I can't quite tell if it's your sort of thing by looking at your chart, but I'd really give Momus a good go before giving up on him.

In terms of order, maybe try:
>Circus Maximus
>Poison Boyfriend
>Tender Pervert
>Don't Stop the Night
>Philosophy
>Hypnoprism
>Joemus
>Little Red Songbook
>>
>>62405415
>>62405936
To add to this, Bambi, Bibliotek, Turpsycore, Oskar Tennis Champion, Otto Spooky and Ocky Milk are fun listens, but I think they should come later in one's Momus career - I think one should get a feel of Momus' "tricks" before trying them, rather than be quickly disillusioned.

An opinion I often see is that Momus is a poor composer; some of his songs don't have good endings, and albums aren't put well together - I don't mind this fact, and I will admit sometimes I can feel it - but the opinion is there nevertheless.

There are some fantastic tracks on Philosophy that I love to listen to over and over again - it's one of my favourite albums full stop - but it needs to be broken into with a few listens in my judgement.

Bon chance.

Uh, I listened to that track on their bandcamp, and while I appreciate the rec, that was really not awesome. It was just cymbals, some weird electronic noise, and a guy whining into the mic. Really not my thing.

Nah but I like a lot of this chart. Makes me realize I need to get into jazz again.
Love YMO, Bowie, Burzum, and Mars Volta. Reccing Ryuichi Sakamoto - Thousand Knives (which to be quite honest I haven't listened to but it's by a YMO member and is the all time favorite album of a buddy of mine who has a similar chart to yours.
