How is this album not considered more of a modern masterpiece? It takes the most off putting and outsider ideas of drug abuse, murder, attempted suicide, and schizophrenia and makes them catchy. It is kinda a feat when you talk about. Every song has a hook that you remember. Every song. The album just is kinda in a league of its own when put up to other Death Grips records.

The production is the best out of any of Death Grips album period. So /mu/ what is your classic?

Beyond Alive is the most important transition for the structure of the album besides the Big Dipper -> Break Mirrors one.

It's the collapse of energy, and the start of the spiral to On GP. The single most important line in the album is in Beyond Alive.

TMS is just a collection of great singles.

That is the point. You have to give each single song so many listens to distinguish what is being samples, said, and actually what it sounds like. It is a collage of debauchery.

>>62388897
I feel you anon. My grandmother had it and my grandfather was pretty deep into his disease when we put in the grave. At the funeral when they were lowering him down into his grave my grandmother yelled "IT'S SUCH A LONG WAY DOWN". kinda feel bad for her.

The Money Store is really lame, which is a shame because Get Got and The Fever are fucking great. But Double Helix, I've Seen Footage, Lost Boys, Hustle Jones, goddamn what a bunch of crap.

NLDW is miles above TMS anon.
>>
>>62393496

What? TMS is their most accessible work. Exmilitary is my favorite of theirs simply because of how hip-hop centric it is compared to the rest of their stuff. I seriously can't stand most of TMS though. It took out the most visceral part of Exmilitary, Ride's vocals, and mixes them in the center instead of above the instrumentals. That's why I feel NLDW is better than it.

>>62393555

Incredibly annoying chorus.

develop taste in general please, I'm not a huge DG fan in general but I understand why people like every album except FW which is mediocre garbgage
>>
>>62393343
The virtue of Beware and the rest of Death Grips' first album was that it remained at least somewhat faithful to a traditional hiphop sound, while having wildly different themes.

It was listenable for normies, instead of just being noise music like their later releases.
>>
>>62394453
Billy Not Really fits that pretty well if you get over how the sound was made
>>
I liked No Love Deep Web's more minimal hooks more than the more bloated tms hooks.

TMS is a modern masterpiece but you need to give the music community at least 10 years to realize that. the idea that anything is an immediate masterpiece is objectively wrong.

Also TPTB is the best dg album. That being said, i think it is far more likely for TMS to be considered the group's true masterpiece. TMS is starsailor, TPTB is lorca
>>
>>62394541
FW is the perfect videogame background music.
>>
>>62394258

Yes, it is. Get Got as an opening track is very accessible. It is far, FAR more accessible than Exmilitary. But now we're playing he said, she said. More than anything, TMS takes out the visceral power of Ride's vocals.

What the fuck? Everything Exmilitary talks about are fucking staples of hip-hop, ALL of it. I shouldn't have to list what makes Exmilitary unique. People like how empowering the opener is and how unique the other shit is.
