Ulver: 8/10 nice ambience, dark but relaxing

Ween: 3/10 maybe a little too experimental I could see why people could like it it's just not my favorite

Autechre: 5/10 same Brocken I had with ween the difference is I definitely wanna check them out more (they kinda reminded me of the Tim and Eric skit dunngeon)

Bjork: 8/10 in pretty familiar with bjork
I like her style and call me normie but 21 red balloons is a great song

Cornelius: 8/10 also more up my alley I like their soft kinda jazzy style

Animal collective: 7/10 they're ok I can't put my finger on what I don't really like but I listen to them relatively frequently

The Beatles: 7.5/10 font castrate me but the Beatles are a little samey, kinda overrated, too watered down at points

Swans: 8.5/10 I do like their neoindustrial style their kinda edgy art, pretty similar to how I like death grips, but there comes points where their music gets redundant and a little grating but I have a feeling that's on purpose

Elliot smith: 9/10 it's a shame he passed away when he did, I really enjoy the stuff he did

Tim Buckley: 8/10 I like how protopunk he was he definitely helped shape the rock world

Pat the bunny: 7/10 kinda derivative, pop punk isn't my favorite genre, good lyricism though

Death from above 1979: 8/10 they're pretty good, I seem to lean towards experimental punk, more hard music than anything
Zeus!: 9/10 I really love prog/math rock it definitely has a special place in my heart, remind me of oxes a bit, I'd listen to them more for sure

Andrew Jackson jihad: 8/10 I honestly had a hard time rating this... It's really bad it's grating the instruments seem detuned but I love it, great singing it fits, it's lofi...

Chu ishikawa: 8/10 really modern for something that's like 30 years old, it's surprisingly good
>>
>>62385204
Stevie nicks: 7/10 eh that's all I can say, she doesn't suck but she's kinda lame

Fleet wood Mac: exactly the same

Doves: 8/10 pretty good, I would definitely listen again I like the mix of experimental and new age avant garde , kinda repetitive at parts

Lady gaga: 4/10 I really hope you're kidding

Pink Floyd: 9/10 definitely one of the best prog bands ever, great to listen to stoned or sober, pretty good in general
>>
>>62385347
Of Montreal/MGMT: 8/10 not bad that's for sure but electronica alt can be pretty hit or miss ie (neon trees (miss) vs empire of the sun (hit))

Radio head: 8.5/10 probably the best alt band that came out of the 90s/00s a lot of under appreciated songs and albums

Charlie Parker: 8.5/10 I appreciate jazz but it's one of those things I only listen to when I'm in the mood if I wanna chill out

Sweet! Bands I've never heard of!

Gy!be : 9/10 they're pretty good but they're definitely a type of band that's a little more on the niche side

stars of the lid: 7/10 I'm probably not the first to say that I don't really get ambient, it's pretty good but not my forté

Dntel: 8/10 same as before but it had more rhythm in my opinion

OPN: 7/10 same as stars of the lid, but I wanna check them out a little more

Sufjan Stevens: 9/10 same as Gy!be
>>
>>62385484
Soad: 8.5/10 I honestly got kinda board of soad they have great albums but I'm just not that into it, if they were to release something new I would probably still listen
Rhcp: 8.5/10 I like rhcp but only certain songs off certain records,

Muse: 7/10 their early stuff is great but I just slowly but sure lost interest

Smashing pumpkins: 8/10 they're a timeless alt band, but they're a little to poppy for my taste

Everything but the girl: 7.5/10 I don't really like 90s dance/techno...

Tame impala: 8/10 I like it, very indie, nice to lay around and chill to

Diiv: 8.5/10 pretty good makes me think of old new wave groups, same as before

Deafheaven: 8.5/10 nice and symphonic, makes me think of a sped up mastadon

Mac demarco: 9/10 quintessential chill artist very wacky very experimental he's definitely on my top 20 solely because of viceroy and my kinda woman

I already did swans and radio head,

Fugazi: 8.5/10 it's hard not to love them they have great old school post hardcore sound, great lyricism but they kinda get repetitive if you don't know what you're looking for

Death grips 9.5/10 I don't give out 10s in my opinion a 10 would be a perfect band, this damn well gets close, I fucking love DG I love their style I love their attitude, I love their music, I don't think I can really say more

Converge: 8.5/10 this is some good shit, hard but lyrical, fast but measured noisey but tempered, pretty good
>>
>>62385941
I did pink Floyd swans the Beatles and deaf heaven

Opeth: 8.5/10 pretty good in my opinion, they're a great example of a band that changes style without changing quality

Sinatra: 5/10 honestly I think Sinatra is overrated, his music is honestly pretty indistinguishable, his lyrics are lo key shallow, he's everything wrong with modern pop almost 70 years early

Black sabbath: 9/10 the first real "metal" band in my opinion, they're quintessential to the metal experience, I say that they have every style in one album but do that three times over they mKe it onto my top 10 because of songs like planet caravan and into the void

Cpatmb: 8.5/10 way ahead of their time some of the best rock / protopunk you'll get from before 75

Velvet Underground: 9/10 another band on my top 10, I just really love VU they're chill and alty it kinda gets shaky after nice though
>>
>>62386555
David Bowie: 9/10 a great guy fantastic to the day he died the only person who could make his death into art

Miles Davis: 8/10 great jazz artist great alongside theolonius monk and Herbie Hancock

Beach boys: already talked about how I don't like em

MF DOOM: 9/10 great example of how trashedy changes a person, from KMD to Kill-a bee... Sorry for that

1 la dispute: I give them a 9.75/10 it's a mix of the lyricism the melody , the ability to change with out lowering quality, the fact that hey take years to write an album

2 death grips: I've already explained

3 smiths: 9/10 the quintessential new wave early alt band, the mix of morisseys smooth vocals and lyricism with Johnny marrs complex guitar work and Mike Joyce's complex drums makes it amazing

4 nujabes: 9/10 the amount of thought and effort he put into his work to only have it ended so quickly is artful in itself, what puts him this high is probably luv doc or battle cry

5 ghost: 9/10 they're a really good band, the only reason they aren't higher is that their second album infestissumam has a few… disappointing... Songs

Bonus 6) probably Wutang or pixies

Rebuttal:

Agreed on NIN, they had a few average releases, but nothing horribly shitty.

Weezer has at least 3, with Everything Will Be Alright in the End being one of them, le focus group maymay aside. They have had decent singles on the shite albums, though, and their two good albums you mention are REALLY good, at least to me.

Floyd is my spirit animal.

I love Queens for their uniqueness. Not much else out there sounds like the SoCal/desert scene and SftD, Rated R, and Like Clockwork are probably in my top 50 albums if I were to rate my top 50.

I liked New Bermuda. Again, their uniqueness factor puts them in my list as a new entry. As we go through this year, they may drop out for someone else. My fifth spot tends to be pretty fluid.

I can already predict this. You'll be brutally hive mind and say that ELP and Mac are so meme and shitty. Yes is inferior to Genesis. The Beatles weren't even that great. Bowie just died you bus rider. I can just see it now, how my music taste is nothing compared to anyone else's. I'm quite pathetic and know nothing. Oh and OP and other raters are just God and I am a simple pawn listening to simple music for simple minds.

NMH: 9/10 in my top ten for sure they're such a great band to sit back and listen to especially if your depressed, it's hard not to feel good listening to them

Simon and garfunkel: 8.5/10 they're really very good a prime example of classic folk, probably they're work on the graduate is most memorable

Zappa: 9/10 another one top ten and another great example of folk he was also really ahead of his times

Sonic youth: 8/10 another great example of a great early alt band, honestly I prefer the pixies, but that's just personal preference

Aphex: 9/10 I said before that I don't really get ambient, and I stand by that, but I wouldn't call aphex ambient, he's got his own thing going , he is his own genre and I respect that

Unwound: 8/10 a good Early post hardcore band doesn't stray from experimental

Mingus: 8/10 similar to how I feel about miles Davis, good jazz

She wrote Ariel in the month of October and several of the poems were basically suicide notes. It was really well written though. Some weeks later she killed herself. She's a hugely important poet.

Pink Floyd- HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL until syd left and it got dumbed down(still some good songs though). syd period 10/10 post syd 7.5/10

2. Led Zeppelin- Pretty rockin and KICKASS but not enough variaton of the formula/amazing songwriting to keep me interested for more than a few songs. 6/10

3. Deep Purple- Havent heard enough to judge

4. Black Sabbath- Same problems as I have with Zeppelin. More original and more badass though so 8/10

5. The Doors- Pretentious art hipster blues stealing fucks who..... actually made amazing songs. Jim Morrison could easily be the GOAT rock frontman. 10/10
>>
>>62391800
Death Grips- ITS TIME TO STOP. 0/10.

Kendrick Lamar- Socially concious smart lyricism and funkyass beats? sign me up! 9/10

Madlib- JUST LISTEN TO THAT NEW KANYE SINGLE! MADVILLAIN BEST RAP OF THE 2000s! FIGHT ME! 10/10

at the drive in- where did you go wrong my son... 0/10

Literally what... How many LZ songs have you heard? Almost all of their songs are completely different. The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, The Battle of Evermore, Black Dog, Dazed and Confused, Ten Years Gone, D'Yer Mak'er etc

Are you really going to tell me all those songs aren't varied between each other?

My 5:
1. Led Zeppelin
2. Alice in Chains
3. Pink Floyd
4. Dire Straits
5. Oasis

Pixies- Best alt band ever. poppin and rockin songs for the ages. 10/10

Nirvana- give me about a girl, negative creep, polly, something in the way, serve the servants, scentless apprentice, tourettes, and ill tell ya NICE POP PUNK BAND THERE GIVE ME A PIECE OF THAT ASS DAVEY BOY. give me anything else and ill fu

Guided by voices-THE GRE

Sleater-Kinney- PORTLAA

Flaming Lips- Same level of turn of the 90s alt brilliance as the pixies but a bit more inconsistent. Still enough happy garage feedbacky goodness to keep me satisfied for years to come as i wait out the coming tupacalypse in my safe room for me and 90s bands not doing so good in the 10s that i convinced to come and join me (death to the flaming catholic breeders)

NIN- 8/10 Kinda ruined industrial for all the cool kids, but hey, they wrote the ambient masterpiece that is ghosts right?

Weezer 3/10 I liked them in 7th grade and can't really remember why when I hear them now. no offense!

Pink Floyd- I just watched the shining last night so im feeling generous. EUGENE BE CAREFUL WITH THAT 9/10!!!!

Queens of the Stone Age- You know what, I just finished Lullabies to Paralyze for the first time a couple hours ago, and that was wonderful. These guys really keep cool sunglasses chillin in the desert with the desert people cactus affair oh god cactus oh cactus yes sand stay away from my lover vibes alive in the 21st century. 9.5/10

Deafheaven- Technically have a 1 for 3 record with me (New Bermuda is the only one I've liked). Dont know shit about black metal and im guessing being a Deafheaven fan you dont either, but man oh man are those some killer, proggy, emotionally complex RIFFS RIFFS RIFFS. 9/10
