Anyone have some hard to find Con-Dom releases? I'm looking for Recycled, This Sickness Faith, Live Faith, The Duchess of York, Autoficial, Old Street in Taiwan, Live Japan 2003, Shards of Ordnance & War and Ordnance...
>>
>>62381948
some of his stuff his aite
but it's all too digital, just sounds like he ran it through 50 different distortion vsts and that was it

i'm not trying to play the 'muh analog noise' card here, but the way he does it just comes off feeling cheap
to me anyway

destoroyah - Things Are Not Going Well!
Was pretty fucking hilarious
>>
>>62383698
I don't know, I feel like the synthetic style of his music really brings something at least slightly unique to the table. Even though it is very digital I feel like it has a lot of personality and purpose. There is almost like a driving force sweeping you with the music, but in some parts it gets very Shoegazy, as opposed to noisy.

who does noise here? pic related is my setup. gonna get a big upgrade soon
>>
>>62383191
I have to check for some of these when i get home, i got most of mine in a single rutracker torrent and the rest in slsk

But yeah some stuff like that 6x tape comp is pretty difficult to find
>>
>>62384085
I got really busy with class recently
>>
>>62384238
I do but I don't have recent pictures of my setup. That black box at the start of your chain is a shaker box I guess ? You made it yourself ?
>>
>>62385742
yea its a shaker, has a killswitch and a spring reverb. got it off cranksturgeon, currently learning how to solder though

what stuff you got?
>>
>>62386037
I have a shitload but I don't use it all at the same time. I have four 4-track players (I use a lot of tape loops), plenty of pedals of course but also some homemade strings and springs instruments (pic related). I have also started soldering and building my own pedals, mostly passive stuff like mixers.

is there going to be another /noise/ comp this feb?
>>
>>62388672
I've heard of people using motors to vibrate strings or springs before. Probably that.

>>62392432
Mine here was pretty cheap, although I didn't buy the pedals. They can cost up to a few hundred dollars each.
I already had all the cables around, and made a contact mic and shakerbox on the cheap. I also have a secondhand mixer not pictured, which cost around $30aud. Check ebay and craigslist/gumtree for cheap deals on stuff. I have some tape based answering machines I'm looking to mod to play looped tapes on.

>>62392658
I'll give it a listen in a minute and write you something.

>>62392705
Next compilation isn't until March/April apparently, and I'm going to do a NBND '16 compilation around December.
>>
>>62392765
do you take that out of the box to perform or is it kinda a mobile self contained setup?
>>
>>62392797
It's a self contained feedback unit for the time being. I connect that speaker to an amplifier, and have the contact mic directly on it. I almost overloaded my amp last time I used it haha.
>>
>>62392658
Great mix of sounds on the first track. Sounds more focussed than your comp track.
I'd like to hear some layers going on in the less dynamic areas, though the way you're
manipulating everything sounds quite well done.

The second track is a little less fierce sounding which is good, though I think you could
have played on those synthey sounds a bit more. Sounds like some kind of sample is buried among the walls of feedback and noise?

I like the intro to Frustration, it differs from the last track in a good way. Much more junknoise sounding, so a nice change in timbre. That buzzing section just before the 4min mark was slightly too high pitch imo. The synth pieces here are also good, kind of what I was hoping to hear in the second track.

Overall, I think the one piece of feedback I'd give is either varying the longer tracks, or shortening them. People seem to pay attention to shorter releases from what I've gathered. That being said, the whole thing is quite cohesive, so I can tell you've put in a lot of work here. The later tracks give me everything I wanted from the first couple, though that might have just been the result of me playing this after pausing a Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement album.

Also, if you could somehow utilise quietness, it can affect the perceived impact of noisy blasts in tracks like Unrestrained. Straight off the bat I wasn't really feeling this release, though it definitely picks up around the 20 min mark. Gonna commend you on the mixing too. I'm no expert, but everything seems very balanced and easy to listen to.

Fav tracks were Frustration and Consumed and Reduced by Lies.

Where do you begin on building your own noise set up? Like besides guitar pedals or small synths what are some thing i need?
>>
>>62395418
A mixer is always good to have, though you don't always even need to pedals and synths. Literally all you need to start is a mic, amp, and some way to record, anything else from there can complicate things, though help bring variation. I'd also recommend using your voice in some way.
>>
I'm looking for some recommendations for, if this makes any sense, tonal noise? I'm getting into making music of an aesthetic where its like when you take pleasant harmonies but take them to a timberal extreme, if that makes any sense? like the musical equivalent of eating so much candy your stomach hurts and your mouth is raw.

It's a bit long, but does anyone want to take a listen to this track I've come up with? I'm doing a split with another /noise/ regular, and wanted a little feedback. I'm planning on re-recording tomorrow, this is way too wall-like for my taste right now.

>>62398171
I find packaging to be an important aspect of consuming noise music. It helps add legitimacy to a release, it can solidify the concept. Tapes do this better than other formats Imo, not because of obscurity, but because of their tie to diy and experimental music, and dare I say, aesthetic.

I'm a total noob, but Audacity always seems like a nice start. Use it to get a basic understanding of recording, effects and equalization. Solder a contact mic (it will cost you next to nothing) a experiment with it. See what you want for yourself and go that way.
but yeah, I cheap ass mixer, a distortion and a reverb will take you a long way.

>>62397993
The first couple of minutes are really abrasive and layered, making for an interesting listen. I like the hardcore punk vibe that the more dense and low distortion puts into the piece.
After the 4 minute mark it's still packing a punch, the sound is interesting and there's just enough variety into it, that it can keep me interested, but it really seems that this is going to be longer than it needs to.
I'm sorry to come off as rude, but the later parts are really dull. There's not much going on and they carry for too long.
Maybe if you shorten it up and think about the composition of the different parts it will all come around.

Cassettes were a part of how noise and industrial got spread in their clearly rays because of the mail art and tape trading scene. Much of the aesthetics and sounds of the genres are still really indebted to the format.

>>
>>62401907
That's hard, I do everything on a completely insular level, I put a lot of thought into what I make but very little time analyzing and contextualizing it after the fact. I think most of what I've made up until this point is probably ambient power electronics, although on my newest project it's an almost poppy mixture of idm and punk.

I don't make a lot of harsh noise walls these days if that's what you mean but if I pigeonholed everything I did into a genre, noise would always be the prefix.

i'm looking for a few things that shouldn't be too hard to find because they're not that obscure.

1) any of the Wolf Eyes & John Wiese collabs
2) any of the Wolf Eyes & Black Dice collabs

In exchange here's some of my projects:

That stuttering around the 30sec mark really interrupts the flow of the track. The colour of the sounds here is nice, though I'd try to compress the whole thing so there it's a bit more balanced.

>002
Very laid back sounding. Not pure noise by any stretch of the imagination, though it's got the right kind of strangeness. It could do without the piano/keyboard at the end, that seems a bit tacked on. More instrumentation over the top of that would be nice.
