Can't remember where it was but I remeber reading stuff about it when they released Water Curses that they were inspired by El Guincho's stuff. Or maybe it was a rerview of Water Curses where the reviewer just made that assumption. It was a long time ago. But yeah, Person Pitch came out before Alegranza so El Guincho could very well be inspired by Panda.

Person Pitch included an insert that listed Noah's influences on the record. Personally I'd recommend Arthur Russel. Get pic related and First Thought, Best Thought. Neither are made of sample but it's not hard to see the inspiration.
Next I'd check out The Orb. Noah had talked about finding one of their albums in a drawer while in boarding schools. The Orb makes 90's ambient house music where you get passages of ambients mixed in with dance beats. Check out The Orbs adventures beyond the Ultraworld and UFOrb. From there I would check out The KLF's Chillout mix and Future Sound of London's Lifeforms.
