>now they cost $600, I paid $300 for pic related with a case
>hold resale value very well for years
>neck pick up has that bell chime you can't find anywhere else
>5 way switch for maximum options
>timeless design that is synonymous with electric guitar
>Mexican version 50% of price of American instruments and are nearly as high quality

Where else can you get more all said and for the price?
>>
thats a good deal bro pick er up
>>
I've never paid more than $100 for a guitar.

sad
>>
>>61943739
why wouldn't you put this in /GG/? you don't need your own thread for this bullshit.
>>
>>61944455
Okay...So, you aren't a guitarist?
>>
Hey /mu/ i can get fender American stratocaster custom shop, Seymour duncan pups , scalloped neck , with case all that 405$ worth it?
>>
>>61944627
Absolutely, if you don't like the pick ups you can always change them. A standard is usually 900+.
>>
>>61944587
I am, I just never needed to. I've always got the hookup.
>>
>>61943739
Absolutely not, I own a Fender Blacktop MIM HH configuration. Gigged to death, my favorite tone, and that's having played some vintage les pauls.
Nothing will ever compare to the neck feel of a genuine Fender Stratocaster, MIM or otherwise.
>>
>>61943739
I picked up a 1960 tribute les paul epiphone for $300, so yeah. you have to look hard to find one for that price though
>>
>>61943739
That's definitely not the best guitar for 600. You are paying more for the Fender name.
>>
>>61944934
He said he paid 300 for it, with a case?
>>
This seems like a good thread for this, I bought a guitar + amp off craigslist for $150.

The neck of the guitar says its a fender stratocaster standard, but it's got 2 humbuckers and a 3 position switch instead of 3 single coils and a 5 position switch like I see all over the internet. Have I been ripped off?
>>
yes

a lot of them
>>
>>61945054
btw the amp was shit and basically burst into flames after a month so take that into the equation

Yup, 300 for the whole deal, here's the case.

Post a Pic. Sounds like it but someone could have redone all the electronics

Sounds like an absolute bargain to me man.

What do you want a pick of? Here's the pick-ups. Honestly I think it sounds fine, only a little buzzing on the low E string (I'm guessing the action is too low, I should bring it to a shop to get it checked out). But it's literally my first guitar so what do I know.

Could you give us a pic of the headstock please

Let us see the head stock back and front of possible, and the metal plate tnT joins the neck to the body.

Thanks for helping anons

5 way switch lets you use two pickups together instead of one pickup at a time. This gives additional tones and reduced pickup "hum" if they are reverse wound

Ah right, that's what's called a Squire. Squire is a company owned by Fender that just make more affordable versions of Fender models, I think in China and Possibly Korea.

damn that's sounds nice to have tbqhwy

>>61945380
it's a squier, which is the budget fender line. squier did make a HH strat so it's probably real (not a partscaster, which is a strat made from assorted parts)

That's a squier which is fenders entry level subsidiary. They are decent guitars and you paid a fair price.

It looks like you got one which someone had used for a project, which is really common with squiers. I actually have one of the same model you do and used it to mod the guitar and work on it.

Basically you didn't get ripped off at all but it wasn't a super sweet deal either.
>>
>>61945439
Almost all guitars have this
>>
>>61945487

Yap. Except the original strats

That's cool I was just curious about the different pick-ups.

Any advice on how to stop the buzzing on my E string? The bridge has screws I can turn to adjust the height of the string, that seems to me like a good way to do it but I'm not sure. I checked the neck and it looks straight and not bent back in any way.
>>
>>61945570
You could look up online tutorials on how to adjust action (height of strings) and other set up issue, but if you're completely new to this it would probably be a good idea to take it to a professional, or if you've got a friend that knows what they're doing.
>>
>>61945570

Honestly with some squiers it is unavoidable.

But, of you want to go thru the paces, here are the steps for excellent action.

1. Adjust the truss rod to the proper neck relief
2. Sand the nut if necessary (this is actually easy to do and a new nut is only $10 despite being one of the best upgrades you can make)

3. Adjust the bridge saddles and trem if necessary

4. Set intonation.

>>61945673

This does require a few tools and a willingness to invest some time learning from YouTube clips. Alternative is to spend $40 to $50 for a setup at the music shop.
