alright guys, it's been a while since the last /shugazi/ thread, which will probably be only happening weekly to keep these threads and discussion fresh. So, time for a new one!

I'm listening to the new LSD and the Search for God right now and I'm missing those strong melodies the first EP had, and the noise sounds kinda flat and I'd like for the vocals to be a little louder, but I'm like halfway through my first listen so what do I know.

What do you guys think and what were you expecting from the new LSD?

I could never really bring myself to enjoy the band, this doesn't really change much.

Is Monster Movie /shugazi/-approved? It shares members of Slowdive and Eternal.
>>
>>61913421
They're alright, I like the mix of acoustic and electronic instruments, and the electronic percussion and stuff, but I think the melodies are generally uninteresting and not really noteworthy. I'm really only talking about Last Night Something Happened.
>>
>>61913421
>>61914461
I don't see anything wrong with their melodies. They're melancholic and uplifting at the same time.

The drums on the new LSD EP we really nice.Very psychedelic soundsapes.

I think it's kind of a different sound than the usual shoegaze band. There's guitar noodling, and little guitar solos in between. Reminds me of Galaxie 500 actually

>tfw Sound of Ceres' first album was announced 8 months ago, with the tracklist, and still isn't out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cerYlP2_GEw

It sounds like a perfect hybrid of Hidden Lands and Ceres & Calypso, judging by the single. Candy Claws helped me through some shitty times.
>>
>>61928462
Is that the same song that was on that one episode of Off the Air?
>>
>>61928792

Yes. Into The Deep Time was in earlier episode.
>>
>>61930466
Yeah, when I saw it I noticed that it sounded exactly like Candy Claws, but I didn't know the song. I only found out Sound of Ceres was putting out stuff after I looked at the credits.

Why do you name shoegaze threads after Fugazi? They aren't related to shoegaze in any way.
>>
>>61930502
Some dude made a thread where he said he pronounced shoegaze "like fugazi" so that's where it came from. Now we use it to refer to all the shoegaze related and influenced styles.

Holy shit. And I thought Suvlaki was good.
Primal instantly became one of my favourite songs.
>>
>>61946019
Try Pygmalion.
>>
>>61946019
and all their EPs.
>>
>>61946392
>>61946811
Funnily enough, I immediately ordered all their albums, all 2CD versions, when I was done listening to that one. Both it and Souvlaki genuinely get me emotional, especially Primal. That crescendo of melodies starting at 3 minutes is just beautiful. They do that a lot on Just for a Day, too.
Haven't listened to Pygmalion yet but I can't imagine it being better than Just for a Day. It'd be amazing if it was though.
I imagine there'll be a lot of EP and B-side songs on the second discs of the albums so that's sorted too.

Slowdive are great!
>>
>>61947090
Pygmalion is very different than everything else they've made. But everything they've made is great.

Souvlaki and Pygmalion are "better" but my favorite album of theirs is Just for a Day.I don't know what it is but something in that album just clicks for me unlike their other 2 albums. Also, Primal is my favorite song of theirs.
>>
i have come to save the thread
>>
>>61947711
I've got the MOV pressing of Souvlaki - sooooo good.
>>
>>61910224
Fuck all these indie dream pop/shoegaze bands in this trend. They're all shitty except maybe Beach House, but I don't know. I'm talking about PoBPaH or School of Seven Bells, or Radio Dept.
>>
>>61949621
Those artists are switched around. Beach House is the most bad.
>>
>>61949802
That's severely incorrect, even though Radio Dept. is also good.
>>
Honestly can anything amount to Loveless? 90% of the shoegaze I've listened to is uninspired derivative bullshit. Am I missing something or does the genre really suck that bad that nothing has outdone the album that ""created"" it almost 25 years later?
