Check out The Call of the Wretched Sea and The Divinity of Oceans by them. Other than that, Bell Witch are great, as are Esoteric, Evoken, Mournful Congregation, Thergothon, Skepticism, Monolithe, Remembrance, Tyranny and Dolorian. Does anyone else feel they have a bias (for better or worse) when it comes to purely instrumental music?
listening to some new releases right now. specifically Lumberjack Feedback - Blackened Visions which is instrumental sludge and although I like the instrumental work quite a bit there is never enough going on that I feel like the lack of vocals is necessary. why don't they have a singer you know? maybe I'm wrong in feeling like by default music should have vocals but its how I feel.
I like most types of metal, ranging from atmoshit to wall to wall riffing and like some specific instrumental bands ( and I don't feel a bias as strongly when a band I already love releases a purely instrumental track); but for the most part no matter how great a band with no vocals might be, I feel like the lack of vocals is really holding them back Vocals are just very memorable and also fun to imitate I guess? I mean like I said I get down to instrumental shit all the time but I'm less likely to return to it as frequently... Am I pleb or do most of you feel the same way?
