What does /mu/ think of Alice in Chains?
probably my favorite grunge band desu, way heavier and darker than all the other big bands
They're good, especially their acoustic session.
>>61832534
my favourite of the grunge mainstream bands. dirt is best album
I love them. They're my second favorite of all those bands. Favorite album?
I like them. Staley was a good singer.
>>61832580
he also had a small dick did you kno
>>61832579
Its hard to top Dirt
Black Gives Way to Blue is pretty underrated
>>61832579
Dirt for sure man, if that album only consisted of the bridge in Would? I'd be satisfied.
>>61832572
Haven't heard it, listening now
>>61832577
For sure
>>61832580
hell yeah
what do you guys think of Devil Put Dinosaurs Here? personally I think it's awesome how they've updated their sound, especially without staley (rip)
you said desu, noone cares what you have to say
>>61832637
i said t b h but it changed to desu
>>61832650
oh.
>>61832650
then what changes to senpai or whatever? why doesnt mine do that desu
>>61832534
Sucks that Layne's GF overdosed in 1996 and destroyed him for good.
Favorite album is Jar of Flies, though I guess that's an EP.
>>61832650
iiiiii see senpai
>>61832722
f a m
they were kinda buttrock but good buttrock
"grunge" isn't a thing
>>61832534
i saw them live when they got the new vocalist and was really excited about the new material, because the live set was so incredible. it was a band i never thought i'd get to see live.
new material is kinda disappointing for me. i guess there's nothing quite like 90s heroin soaked depression
>>61832572
It's pretty good, but its appeal is mostly due to the context surrounding it than to the performance itself, which is why I don't listen to it/watch it much. Layne's voice is horrible to the point of nearly unlistenable at parts. There's a reason they had to alter his vocals on parts of Tripod.
>>61832847
I've seen them twice since they reformed, once before BGWTB and once after but before TDPDH. They were shockingly excellent especially since I didn't know what to expect with the new guy the first time around.
>>61832534
Their music was so sad, and yet so enjoyable at the same time. Definitely one of the best 90s bands.
GOAT song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODTv9Lt5WYs
Melvins were heavier and darker though
>>61833198
They don't have those melodies or harmonies though.
>>61833204

>>61833226
That riff is badass, but it doesn't really counter what I said at all.

Fucking love this video, it's what prompted me to get into the band in the first place.
>>61833198
Melvins were great, but they just lacked the raw emotion and genuineness that Layne added to the music.
Nirvana > AIC > Soundgarden > STP > Pearl Jam
>>61832605
being on heroin does that
>>61833361
For me it goes
Soundgarden > AIC > Pearl Jam > STP > Nirvana
>>61833361
>>61833751
Stop including Stone Temple Pilots with the other 4 bands
>>61833793
Why?
>>61833793
but that's the big 5
>>61833751
>Nirvana that low
kill yourself immediately
>>61832534
YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH HEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYY YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH WANT TO TRAVEL SOUTH THIS YEAR
>>61833929
Where would you have them?
They're alright at best imo desu senpai
>>61833954
they are the best grunge band after the Melvins (who Kurt was a pupil of)
>>61833954
They were better than STP and way better than Pearl Jam. Definitely mid-high tier on the grunge band spectrum.
>>61834001
lol
>>61834062
>he unironically thinks Pearl Jam and Stone Pimple Toilets are better than Nirvana
L O L
>>61834059
I can definitely accept people preferring Soundgarden or Alice in Chains, while I don't agree with it personally.
But claiming Pearl Jam or STP is better than Nirvana is just absolutely terrible taste and pretty fucking embarrassing tbqh.
>>61834073
>>61834093
Meh, Nirvana had two great albums and one very okay one, plus a couple mediocre live albums. PJ and STP each had a few great albums.
i got pretty heavy into failure after hearing the nurse who loved me
they were good when i was 16 i guess
prefer nirvana now though that ive grown up
>>61834210
It's a pretty good album, man. It does sound way too much like Nirvana, though.
DIRT is the best second rate rip off of Black Sabbath's Paranoid album that I ever heard.
>>61834236
this
Stopped caring after Layne died.
Favorite song of theirs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gbm8fd1awcs
>>61834621
ugh ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
>>61832722
> desu
wait, since when this shit happens? and why, senpai?
>>61833198
aic's third album was as bleak and heavy as anything the melvins did
