Both style and technically I would say Bernard Purdie, there's a reason he's on a million records.
Chris Coleman, Derek Roddy, Nathan Sletner, Lyndon Rochelle, and Lenny White are some of my favorites.
I really hate these types of threads, usually devolves into a "nuh uh he's better" kinda thing. Good looking thread so far, but it's better to specify instead of having the vague technicality and style thing. All drummers posted ITT can play almost any style and play it technically. Guess that's why they're the best!

Jon Theodore is the man and I've seen these guys a handful of times with a handful of drummers - but I saw them on the Bedlam in Goliath tour with Thomas Pridgen and that fucker blew everyone away. The halftime swing change in they do on the live version of Goliath is fucking insane and I wish it was on the record so bad.

The thing I like most about him is he plays in all these agressive bands but has a very minimal kit. He's not some jerkoff with 4 rack toms and 3 different splashes he never touches. He's also got pretty much perfect technique and time. He's not overly flashy, just really fucking solid.

Zach Hill is more technically trained (Chippendale's technique is quite frankly awful) but he can't do jack shit with it, he's a boring drummer. Chippendale is the fastest I've ever seen and while he's not highly trained or some shit he's amazingly creative and does shit guys like Hill couldn't even dream of.

That was kinda my point, altough I disagree on Zach Hill being boring because he has some cool tricks on Hella.
Mind you there are a few jazz players faster than Chippendale. Then again they tend to use wrist a lot (Chippendale pretty much works like a piston, uses the entire arm on pretty much everything except a few softer ride beats)

Chippendale is p much pure momentum, he has a ride that's essentially dedicated to keeping his arm going once he's wound up. His whole body goes into his playing. also if you haven't, check out Black Pus. For watching him drum, I prefer seeing him solo to Lightning Bolt and he gets a lot weirder.
I feel like Hill has cool ideas with some of his weird mathy angular shit, but he never really reaches the full potential of those ideas and often just ends up slamming on the snare endlessly.
