Post country music that someone who doesn't listen to the genre would find interesting

No Johnny Cash/Bob Dylan tier songs
"Real" country only
>>
Johnny Cash had number ones throughout the decades on the country charts, recorded albums with Waylon Jennings and Hank Jr, shared a building with the Grande Ole Opry when recording his own TV show (that featured dozens of country artists) and has been inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame. How is he not "real" country?

Because when people think of country they don't think of cash anymore
At one point people said Helter Skelter was heavy metal, now not so much
You can say he's country and be 100% correct but in this instance I want to hear modern country artist who fit into the modern criteria of country

townes van zandt self titled album is gold

You don't know many people who listen to country then. Hell, quite a few folks I know who are actually from country areas don't consider modern country to be country music.

If you want modern country, say you want modern country. Louis Armstrong sounds almost nothing like most jazz of the past 50 years, he's still a Jazz artist.

I like the juxtaposition of religious tracks and secular tracks. Plus highway kind, the eponymous track, poncho and lefty.

Listen to Sturgil Simpson OP

This song is alright. The man singing is a Native American playing the role of a cowboy, by the way.
