If I hadn't been given an Itunes voucher and needed to spend it on something, I would never have bought this album.
Anyway, started the New Year with a real exploration of Liszt's sacred music (plus late-Liszt as a personality) and it's fascinating stuff. Christus has to be one of the finest oratorios in the repertoire and really deserves to be performed more often.

8th is my favourite Thoven symphony. 4th movement is nothing short of spectacular.
And conductors from Wagner onwards have been interested in the second movement as a touchstone for conducting ability
