Doolittle is my favorite, and I love Surfer Rosa but it isn't like one of my favorite albums, but I feel like for what it is and how it is delivered that it is without flaw.
I understand that an album isn't inherently a masterpiece simply by fulfilling its concept, but for what the concept is and how Surfer Rosa is in relation to its context, Surfer Rosa is not only without flaw for its own motives but it is equally without flaw in regard to its strength with which it carries out what it does.

For a lot of them I just considered their albums in question's quality in terms relative to their context/approach. Like if you compared Beefheart and Radiohead in terms of quality there would be arguements from different points of view. But what Beefheart does in terms of experimentation and innovation is relative to what Radiohead does in perfecting an already existing approach to a genre. In their own respective places I consider their best albums to be of equal importance but for different reasons.
For Lisa Germano I meant Geek the Girl and Excerpts From a Love Circus but that was probably a stretch, it's a great album but I feel like it comes short of being what it could have been.
And either/or for MBV. I did mean Isn't Anything (though I love the fuck out of m b v) but that is also kind of a stretch now that I think of it. Same with Godspeed.
