He's been around since the beginning, so the band wouldn't be the same without him. At least he puts on a show to make up for his lack of talent. When the Chili Peppers first started he just rapped, so it didn't really matter that he was a shitty singer. He's actually a pretty good lyric writer though for some reason *not always though, especially on the early shit, and songs like right on time*.
