I swear if Lupe wasn't trying to be poppy this album could've wiped TPAB off the face of the earth. But nope, lets have poppy generic boom bap production and lets have hooks even though they sound like pop music pandering in Lupe's style of hip hop. I am not him but the guy who posted directly above you. The album's good parts won't be noticed by the listener on a casual listen as it's Lupe, and if you know Lupe you know it's all about complexity and nuances in lyrics. In that manner he did phenomenal having literally triple or quadruple entendres lyrically and just spitting bars like the genius he is when it comes to spitting. Unfortunately the album does have flaws in the production and hooks. Again, if the situation as anything like the last two albums it may be Atlantic's fault, but shit if Lupe just dropped dumb hooks and picked up a producers that can also rhythmically keep up/compliment the craziness of Lupe's bars it would've been hip-hop AOTY, maybe even hip-hop AOTD.
