Hell at the South-West Front
Near Kletskaja village
Katyusha launchers introducing
Voronovs barrage
A hail of 80 minutes lasting
Screaming shrapnell steel
Grinding stunned Rumanians
In disorder they flee
Falling on soil that never was theirs
Mercilessly chased by unknown heirs
Dying eyes meet furious Soviet wrath
Cautiously determined, striking hard
Meanwhile from the Donfront
Comes the second assault
A large number of forces
Impossible to halt
Chaos is complete
As a third attack begins
Pincer movements leading all
Towards the Kalatsj bridge
Mg s rip and tear throught hardened flesh
Massive seem the dark tank silhouettes
Invulnerable deadly T-34
Hear the Stormoviks in the sky roar
Essential coordination
As important as speed
Don't give Fritz the time
To get back on his frozen feet
The brave heroic 62nd
Of Tsjukov stood its ground
Between Don and Volga
Soldiers bodies mount
Now surrounding according to plan
330.000 man
Left to die without ammo or food
The crucial offensive of World War II
literally almost makes me erect

Yes, thank you!
Thoughts on pic? It leaked btw. Honestly surprised at how good it is. The album definitely has its weak moments, but those were honestly in the first half in fact with the first two or three songs. Overall riffs wise it actually changes it up quite a bit. Glad I didn't go in expecting Immortal though. Nowhere near as much tremolo picking and blast beats as one normally expects from Immortal. I think it's for the better since the album's not afraid to be midtempo rather than fast, fast, fast all the time.
>>61730098
You sound like you need something like the Kaeck album that came out last year or the Sammath one that came out before if you were expecting super fast, crazy tremolos and shit. The album's good, but not in a typical Immortal way.
>>61730652

Nah, ATHOW was definitely blasts and so were the albums after it. Abbath's new album doesn't have that level of blasts. Crazy tremolo might have ended earlier than 97 desu. Crazy being PH tier I guess which no other Immortal album reached (in terms of that dark intensity)

[ALTARUS:] Gaze deep into the mists with your spirit-eyes, Xerxes... look far,
and tell me what you see.
[XERXES:] I see a land far to the north... a vast empire of dark endless moors
and snow-crowned mountains... a land of brooding citadels and warrior-kings
who hail to grim gods.
[ALTARUS:] Look well, Xerxes, for enlightenment hides within the fog-swathed
vales of Hyperborea...
[The King's Dream:]
By the onyx sceptre of my forefathers, the air is churning with auguries
of dethronement... Impending dread thus prophesized! In a dream I was bade
ride the argent-eyed unicorn to the Ring of Stones... There a torrent of
viscid slime assailed me, as pipes and horns sang the clarion of my
dissolution... And the usurpation of my ancient azure throne. Assassins stalk
the nighted halls of my palace... poisoned blades and chalices surround me.
I thirsted for a balm, but my thirst was slaked by an envenomed draught. My
swordarm shackled by tendrils of sloth... enthralled by the chasmed gloom...
Borne upon wings of labyrinthine dread... I awaken! I shall seek the counsel
of the sorcerer, keeper of the ancient scrolls of wisdom, and the Crystals of
Power...
[The Words of the Sorcerer:]
My liege, great and regal king... the mists disclose their secrets... you
are destined to wield a great dark power. Drink deep of the potions of the
apothecary, for upon thee now I bestow a shard of the mystic Crystal of
Mera... sacred artefact of the At lantean mages, won in battle by our legions.
My liege, the Crystal of Mera shall unveil the truth lurking hidden in thy
most fever-haunted dreams...
[The Voice of the Harbinger:]
The land awash with spilled blood, and viscera torn forth from the
sundered dead... Gorge the earth with flesh darkened with the claw and fang of
war... rent open the ravenous maws of worms...

Lucid Interval>Misled by Certainty>Xenosapien>Anomalies>Exploiting Dysfunction>Conforming to Abnormality
1
3/10, strikes me as an angra clone but without any of that band's atypical riffing or dynamic
6/10, good instrumentation, i'm rarely one for the operatic vocal style
7/10, honestly pretty strong riffing, reminiscent of mithras. neoclassical solos are pretty out of place though
6/10, resembles standard J-power more often than it should, Yuhki's work is creative and good as usual but there's so many musicians involved in everything else that the personality is diluted
3/10, pretty good vocals reminiscent of Ancient Bards, but not as fun and energetic as that band otherwise
2
4/10, moments of genuine brilliance but it doesn't create the surreal atmosphere i want from the style, and the chiptune elements are as intrusive as you'd expect
3/10, A Brutal/Tech Album
7/10, for some reason this stands apart from the crowd, one of the better italian bands i've found honestly
8/10, too bad their other stuff isn't as good, the diversity here is brilliant and the rhythm section is unbelievable, the drummer riffs as hard as the guitarist does
5/10, seems like standard heavy/power with some annoying pinch-harmonic riffing but becomes slightly more charismatic as it goes on
3
9/10, yep final track still best thing ever
2/10, laaaame, that smooth-jazz sax feature lol
3/10, can't say i expected much considering i know shit all about korean metal but this feels like a bunch of extended intro tracks. musicianship is far from amateurish but arrangement... yeah
5/10, some good and some bad songs. that's about it. not completely generic but the attempts at prog ambition mostly fall flat
7/10, with better production i can appreciate the intricacies more, compared to the first demo. still embryonic though
cont'd
In terms of 2016 metal I think this EP has been a pretty solid listen, too. Starts off somewhat weak, but shit I really like the leads and it's one of the type of metal that gets melodic parts right despite not being that melodic (idk how else to explain that; like the thing that's normally considered the good part about Mgla?)

5/10, this album doesn't stick like so much of the band's other work does. not unengaging but a bit aimless
7/10, a couple favorites and, sadly, a good amount of filler
8/10, awesome atypical italo-power/prog, trying to find their other demoes atm
6/10, strong production as expected, but koko is a denpa singer and she doesn't bring that manic energy, it's a bit soft for j-pop oddly. expected something that banged more.
2/10, doesn't even have the good solos from the previous album :(
5
3/10, seriously amazing guitar solos, everything else is fucking boring and shallow
9/10, still owns yep
9/10, american symph-prog's finest moment? maybe
7/10, still needs smoother songwriting tbqh
...in the middle of shoujobyou atm but it's a lot more \m/ than i expected. i generally assume that super symphonic doujin-power will be all programmed fluff and no musicianship, like marchen station, but this reminds me more of Tears of Tragedy. The riffing is pretty fast and the vocalist's tone is really charismatic

Are you looking for an album that does zombie apocalypse?
If mainstream Metalcore does it for you, there's always the Zombie EP by The Devil Wears Prada.
If mainstream Metalcore does NOT do it for you then there's The Awakening by Send More Paramedics. Hell I think every album by this band is some kind of zombie concept or another.
>>61733567
I'm looking for a full on gay pretentious concept album about the outbreak. I'd forgotten Send More Paramedics though, they were bretty gud
>>61729454
I won't react at all, because I just don't have the time for music anymore.
>>61733431

I saw the blue cover and thought you were the Dream Theatre guy, my mistake
>>61735719
They're still very repetitive and predictable, this droney stuff just seems like an excuse for lack of ideas, how come immortal, gorguts, immolation, nile, peste noire can make interesting and atmospheric music at the same time? I will never get how all these atmoshit artists are even tolerated
>>61735798
personal taste I guess. I love them but there's no reason you should too. It got the thread going again so no harm done m80
>>61735798
>droney stuff just seems like an excuse for lack of ideas
I find this to be the case with far too many bands. I also suspect it often masks a lack of music theory knowledge.
>tfw I want to resent Ne Obliviscaris for being open to normies and literally taught to music students

Some classical conservatory in Australia has started teaching Ne Obliviscaris as part ot its composition exams, I don't have the link but someone else will if you look around. I'm torn between thinking 'well that's good right?' and 'fuck off posh cunts'

>>61736037
Even good taste has to sleep sometimes.
>>61735882
Idk if I really care about that, even though I know lots of scales and can improvise on jazz chords, When I make metal I never use my knowledgebof theory because what comes out is usually much more original

>>61736025
I like Ulcerate and stuff like that, it's just kind of galling to have people act like it's all 'death metal has grown up!' when Incantation did it all 30 years ago and didn't try to be artfags about it
>yfw this song has all the textures people spooge over nowadays
>yfw it was just a decent Dutch osdm band

>>61736056
Doing it completely by the book can be boring as hell. On more than one occasion I've overheard a guitarist or pianist practising or just messing around and accidentally hitting the 'wrong' chord, and I'm like "Wow, that sounded great."
>is it worth the wait?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKBf-SMoesk
>>61736164
Oh yeah, also composing riffs by theory just doesn't work me, I always just try to clear mind completely of anything and completely let loose on the guitar, though having good technique is really damn important, when I do compose by theory I usually only make acoustic tracks, how about you?
>>61735969
I share the sentiment. Are they being progressively open-minded, or tryhards? Not sure how I'd feel even if I was a NeO fan. Now I want to hear how the students react.
That feel when saw Bolt Thrower live.
It was GOAT tier
>>61736345
where'd you see them? I've managed twice but the second time was incredible, best show of my life at Damnation a couple years ago
>>61736387
They made a club tour a year ago or so.
I actually wanted to cop some merch but there where faggots buying entire bags of it to sell it on ebay. The line was two hours long so I thought fuck it.
>>61736408
kek, I braved the merch line and it was 10x as violent as the actual show. Came out with shirts for me and my buds but lost a lot of hair and some blood doing it. Not everyone gets a BT shirt
