I still think we should make /shugazi/ a weekly or monthly thing, there's just not that much to talk about with daily generals.

That being said, I checked out The Fauns and liked them, the songwriting reminded me of a less noisy Pinkshinyultrablast with those nice poppy vibes.
I'm also in love with You'll Never Get To Heaven's s/t, I'm making it my mission to get it heard by more people.

So what's the verdict? I thought their s/t was better, but this EP delivers a wider variety of sounds. Really dug the Spacemen 3/Spiritualized vibes on the last two tracks. Also gets better with each listen (as with most good shoegaze releases)

8/10
>>
>>61605962
Violence to Violence is a perfect noise rock/pop song.
>>
>>61606136
It's really good. I think it's better than their EP, more ambitious for sure
Elizabeth is fantastic

is this general dying? no pls, it's my source of depression and anger
pic related is good, it their other album good?
>>
>>61606642
yeah it's nothing like the first album at all
A lot more darker and noisier
>>
>>61606642
I think what critics say is true about it: shoegaze just hasnt had any innovation beyond what loveless was. I love this genre to death, but in a year or two it might not make it. Bands like slowidive and mbv did everything that was possible. lsd and diiv have their 2016 releases so lets see how it goes. Lsd one was good
>>
>>61606642
hopefully we see some releases this year and the general won't die
>>
>>61606728
didn't know about new lsd, cool
honestly, the most i heard is blackgaze, i find it the subgenre that can innovate the most, just because black metal is already a super diverse genre, so they can combine any subgenre of it with shoegaze
>>
>>61606728
ceres & calypso tho

>>61605962
Too underrated.

I dunno I feel like artists like Smiling Disease have something reasonably original to add to the tradition

The thing is there aren't nearly enough artists like Smiling Disease.
>>
>>61608560
That's kinda exactly the point tho, if there were lots more like him he wouldn't be a singularly great artist...

With every genre you get the famous brilliant flagbearers, a load of mediocrity and then some obscure gems. Shugazi is no different.
>>
>>61608814
I meant artists that try to make their own distinct or unique sound in shoegaze or dream pop.

None of it's rock either.
Really none of it is shoegaze, it's an ambient album, aside from that one track, by FSA.

I never really gave it enough of a chance when I first dl'd it so I'm relistening a few times and its pretty great. It's everything I'd hope to hear out of a noise pop + psych rock album.

does anyone know how to make a shoegazey guitar sound? preferably that isnt super expensive or require studio processing. are there certain guitar pedals I buy and combine?

what should i say to a shoegaze qt on a dating website as an introduction?

inb4
>will you be my bloody valentine?
>>
>>61618231
Find a local shugazi show in the near future. Your introduction should be "You should go to this show with me." Then link the relevants about the show. Then wait for a reply.
If there are no qualifying events. Then something like "We have similar taste, let's hang out." Whatever you do, keep it simple and make clear your intent for face-to-face.

saw this on the shoegaze essentials: how is this shoegaze?
>>
>>61619052
They are the reason the term shoegaze exists.
>>
>>61618231
>will you be my bloody valentine?
that's pretty good son, go with that
>>
Is there any jazzy shoegaze?
maybe something kind like this but longer than just a 2 minute track https://clyp.it/regqkkpg
>>
>>61619895
Dude

Me and my friends just jammed some dream pop/shoegaze with a classically trained jazz drummer

It was the best sounding combo I've ever heard, seriously it tapped into something. More people should do this
>>
>>61619931
Just realized that doesn't help you at all, sorry.

Check out some of Pretend's stuff, it's math rock but very dreamy and with looser jazzier drumming
>>
>>61619931
>>61619958
sounds cool though, more people should do it.
thanks for the rec
>>
>>61608560
my word, what a comfy album
>>
>>61619052
I understand your frustration. They're one of the earliest "shoegaze" bands as the term was indeed coined in a review of one of their shows or something. Their EPs were more shoegazey though. Check out Sonny and Sam (collection of eps). Their songs tend to be slow burners with more noise layered on at the end
