Name an album you enjoyed on your first listen that you still enjoyed 6 months later. All my favorite albums I hated on the first few listens.

sometimes it is

challenging is weird word in this context

I mean it's just fun to listen to something that pushes your buttons in ways you weren't prepared
>>
>Music is only good if it's music.
>Music is only challenging if it's challenging
>Music is only complex if it's complex.

Music is only good if it challenged prior ideals.

Kid A, most of the Smiths discography (excluding Strangeways which is now my favorite).
I am mostly the same as you though.

Depends on taste. Some want an easy listen, and some want to be challenged.
What's bad is when art or music is needlessly obtuse.

>I haven't bought a new album in longer than that, probably
>I probably don't even own more than 30 albums

I do enjoy taking lots of time to let imagery for a song coalesce in my head, but I know I'm missing out on a lot. I never even considered that somebody could like something less after six months of letting it stew. No disrespect it's honestly eye-opening

in principal you're right though. i've found that with a lot of music. i like records having enough depth to slowly grow on me.

For music I really like, I sometimes get way-beyond-my-reach ideas of ways to turn them into music videos, animations etc. I get paranoid sometimes about "losing" that inspiration, so I try to come back to them a lot, to try to "keep them in me" (even though "losing them" has never actually happened). This has probably kept me from exploring new things I would like, even stuff that could give me more inspiration.

It is a sensation most ambivalent, my good fellow
