hahahahahaha
Smashing Pumpkins were better than Nirvana in every way, but they're virtually forgotten by the public because Corgan didn't shoot himself like Cobain did.

basically this

Seriously; I rarely see this album on "best of the 90's" lists even though it's a huge omission.
For something less normie-core, then Drive Like Jehu's self-titled album.

Finally someone who appreciates No More Tears

>virtually forgotten
i don't know about that. they don't have the super-vocal 'social currency' type fans that nirvana/cobain has swirling around the romanticism of cobain's alleged depression/suicide... but i think the smashing pumpkins certainly have their place in history and appreciation in both people that lived (or at least were sapient) in the 90s and even beyond. i still listen to them. a lot of my friends listen to them. they just... again... don't have a super vocal fan base or one committed to listening to new stuff... but they're out there. in droves.

>virtually forgotten
I'm pretty sure anyone who listens to alt rock knows who they are. It's kinda hard to ignore one of the biggest bands of the 90s, especially when they're still in heavy rotation on alternative/mainstream rock stations. A few of their music videos have 10 million+ views.

i'm talking about normies. they are forgotten in our culture. everyone knows who kurt cobain is and nirvana. a lot of people have never heard of of corgan or sp.
>>61427234
Dude, you can't get more 'normie' than regular rotation on alt. rock stations.
>>61427290
I'm thinking he means 'normie' as in mall-tier record store tumblr-core teenagers.

He should have after Machina to be honest, family. Seriously, fucking Zwan. What the fuck was he smoking? Then he renamed them The Smashing Pumpkins and kept putting out crap. I hate that bald fruitcake so goddamn much.
>>61427419
He has written good material since Machina, but has taken full creative control that has caused his final projects to suffer. Furthermore, he continues to remix and alter his past work and make them worse. He is truly the alt-rock George Lucas.
>>61427309
you just described smashing pumkins' core audience, anon.
>>61427595
>He has written good material since Machina
I'd love to hear it, no irony.

hate the culture that surrounds it, but taken on its own, it's definitely one of the better albums of the 90s
