I'm a multi-instrumentalist, and in the studio with my right now I have an electronic drum-set, a guitar, a shit-ton of effects pedals, a bass, and an old casio keyboard from the 80s. You guys decide song names/themes. Are you feeling feelsy? gimme a song-title that fits into what you're going through, and I'll write some lyrics and some musak that'll fit. I write mostly psychedelic rock, kinda in between tame impala and mac demarco. I think I'm doing okay considering i'm basically using my thinkpad mic and pirated copies of DAWs. Like, the sound quality is V. low, but I can't get it any better with present tools. Don't do it "for a living." Get a reasonable job with normal hours and then just spend time in the evenings on your music. Much more realistic and it actually comes with a lot of benefits, like not being beholden to the whims of fans for support whenever you want to do anything even slightly different from when they first heard you. Unless you're really sure you'll make it work (in the sense of having tangible proof that you're going somewhere in your budding career, not just having a feeling that you totally can do it because you're the protagonist) it's highly ill-advised to make that your plan.
