When I saw him live
>>61349185
did you try checking out his more conventional albums?

Khartoum has a very cool cover. Can't wait to hear the actual contents. Still waiiting for the Glasgow Sunday DVD to arrive before I can move on with the discog.

b t w what live show did you see? Was it released by Industries?
bump 1/3
>>61349379
No, I saw him live at a local reissue label record store here, and AFAIK it wasn't released by Corwood
>>61350244
damn, that's badass. I wish I could see him live once. He's getting kind of old.
How did you get into Smith Abelian?
>>61350277
I read about him in this book called "This Will End In Tears", which is basically this huge compendium of a lot of sad music. They mentioned him in one passage, and out of curiosity I checked his stuff out
Ever since then I've been hooked. He's just so distinctive and unique that he drew me in from the beginning
>>61350337
Checked the list of the music listed and I'm surprised Coil is not mentioned. While they aren't particularly depressive outside of their last couple of releases, I would give them a mention.
I found out about Jandek through some Albini interview, don't remember which one. Checked out Ready For The House and was instantly absorbed by it.
bump 2/3
listening to Jandek (Ready For The House) for the first time ever. I'm actually quite enjoying this

>doesnt include the living end or graven image
seriously -_-
>>61351247
I thought that they were too similar to the superior and/or introductory albums of the era.
>>61351334
living end is one of his best albums though ;_;
>>61351350
I remember it to be a sort of a let down after You Walk Alone, which I absolutely loved. I think that the particular era of R&B Jandek introduction would work better through On The Way.
Take Me Away With You is a really cool song though.
It's not like we permantently have over 10 Jandek threads in the catalog to call for a general. Just call it "Jandek thread" and lurk more before trying to go out your hugbox.
