Not to say either of those two are very good vocalists, but I disagree that Joanna has no emotion in her voice, at least, not in her earlier albums.
Her latest two definitely kind of lost me but look at Ys -- look at Emily, or Only Skin. There are parts in those songs where her voice is just rife with emotion. This is accentuated by the music that she created herself, or at least had some large creative influence on.
If you really wanna get into it, sit down with that album, give it a few tries. For a few years I only liked her singles that you'd hear on commercials, and just could never be interested enough in anything else, but one night Ys just hooked me.
