Maxinquaye is dope, I love most trip-hop but there's something about that makes it stick out from it's contemporaries Dummy and Mezzanine. Maybe it's the dated sound of it compared to those two and nostalgia but everytime I listen to the first 4 tracks I'm reminded of why I love it.
As for Souvlaki, I don't know. It hasn't clicked with me; it just seems like some above-average dream pop. People usually compare it with Loveless, but Loveless blew me away after a few listens while I just listened to Souvlaki for the 5th time and still feel noncommittal on it.

If you like this kind of music you'll probably like two bands that not a lot of people know about, Quinteto Armorial e Quinteto VIolado (é música regional do nordeste mas numa pegada de concerto clássico, só que no lugar dos instrumentos de música clássica eles usam os instrumentos nordestino, rabeca, zabumba, etc... não ia conseguir explicar essa merda toda em inglês então vai em pt-br mesmo)
