I always thought that album had quite a lot of filler actually, a few lackluster samples, one of those too long instrumental tracks (I know this is probably a cardinal sin to admit but the cutting up of cartoons to say cool shit gets old 50 seconds in) and some corny instrumentals

all the tracks on this album feel unfininshed and aggravating, some of DOOM's lamest rhymes. Vaudeville Villain is so much better, though Raid is one of DOOM's best

I know what you mean but that's why I like it. I enjoy the way it's set up like vignettes - sketches even. It's like you're walking through a long hallway and you keep peeking into different doors that correspond with each track. Maybe sometimes you shut the door before the track fully "lands" or comes to a logical conclusion.
Sounds stupid, but that's how I view this album, and others with a similar concept. I will say that I don't think DOOM was quite on top form here, but honestly I'm mostly in it for the beats/production, and often DOOM interacts with it in a very organic fashion.

I think how good the first five tracks are, the perfect transitions between them, the great beats, make people exaggerate how much they enjoy the rest in their mind. I think that's true with a lot of mucore.
I don't know if this makes me a pleb, but I think that basically every real song on MM FOOD? is perfect but the rest of that album is really hard to listen to.

I always thought the deal with Doom, and Madvillainy in particular, is that the skits and interludes are the alternative to hooks and choruses. It's hard to make an album of wall to wall verses without it getting boring or tedious, although I do think the tracks on Madvillainy and Keys to the Kuffs that don't have doom, but do have another vocalist tend to take you out of the album.
Also I skipped america's most blunted because the M-A-R-A-J-U-A-N-A skit is really annoying/embarrassing.
The Skits on TMTYL and MM Food are all great though. If you don't like those you pretty much don't like doom's production, cause they're a pretty important part of it
