I have a friend who is a fan of metal with folk influences.
I want to recommend him an album, but it needs to be something that is not too well known because he probably already knows about the well known ones. there are some albums i thought about recommending him btw, but i would like to hear what you guys have to suggest.
Can you give me fairly obscure metal album with folk influences that is also extremely good? (plz don't give me agalloch or ulver or things like that, he probably already know those. it needs to be fairly obscure)
Albums i already know about and thought about recommending to him:
Saor - Aura
Wardruna - Yggdrasil (not metal, but nordic folk)
Sunbather (well he is a fan of folk metal, and deafheaven is not folky so there is a chance he haven't heard them.)
Thou - Heathen (not folk metal, but maybe he will like it)
Panopticon (heh, maybe he already knows them though)
Bran Barr - Sidh (pretty obscure, pretty good. but there are better albums.. its still a good album, if he will know the less obscure things maybe i will go for this. maybe)
Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
Paysage d'Hiver - Das Tor (dunno if i should really go for this, but its a very good album)
bathory - nordland
wouldn't say it's obscure but i like it

Show him this

Bathory probably too well known. but maybe, maybe it's worth trying.
Btw, the font they use to write bathory with makes it look like "Batlord", just saying.
man this thread makes me miss artanis
that guy was cool
anyway pic is my fav folk metal album

that joke is ancient

It's not really a joke though, it genuinly looks like batlord
>>61300258
He love folk metal and nordic culture, so i thought maybe he would like nordic folk even if it's not metal.

yeah I miss Artanis as well, he and I had many a good mumu sessions loaded with folk metal.
on that note OP, rec Arkona - my favorite is Goi Rode Goi
also, not metal but metal kids always seem to dig this band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t__nMPUTLsY
Honsetly, thinking about it, pic related is actually a very strong candidate.
It's obscure folk metal which i really love, and i think he would love it too. i will listen to some of what you guys recommend before deciding tho (i don't promise listening to EVERY album that will be in this thread, but i promise i will listen to some)

here your (you), master baiter, you can find another thread to troll now
something like this?

And these are some of my personal faves, though it's a little outdated. I think Arkona's live album Zhizn vo Slavu is their best, and Evenoire and Fferyllt kinda got out of my rotation. Pyян's latest is quite good which I'd replace one of them with.
Anything by Finntroll

He'll probably like hexvessel which is stoner rock + neofolk and is a side project of the vocalist for two black metal bands.

this
Does he know about Equilibrium?
If he hasn't and likes epic folkmetal, certainly show him.
