i think tim was almost certainly sad about some things, but i wouldn't call him a sad boy. none of his songs have the same kind of whiny sadness that a lot of these other singers have, not there's anything wrong with whiny sadness. also, i can't think of a single similarity between sufjan and tim. tim buckley wasn't really a songwriter in the same sense as sufjan, and that seems like just about the only thing sufjan does.
