He's turning 70 today. He started smoking at 11, did a ton of LSD and pot then got bored of that and went for more useful drugs, like speed. This caused him to get arrested at the Canadian border and got kicked out of Hawkwind after they payed bail.
Even with all the drugs and alcohol, he never touched heroin because many of his friends died to it, including one of his early girlfriends, on his arms. The abuses did cost him some, as the meth took his teeth and the Jack'n'coke gave him diabeetus. Doctors say his liver is fine, and he can't give blood because it's infused with so much drugs.
This year was a bit rough for him, but he still toured a lot an released a record. I saw him in Curitiba with Judas and Ozzy.
Long may he live!

>>61235780
>I don't want all these memes infesting my precious /noise/ though. I wish /dark/ was still a thing, love me some gothic shit
But the hypothetical megathread could survive without memes. The only reason /metal/ is so meme-y is because that's the only way it can keep bumping.
Man I'm hype for the new megadeth album
>>61235867

Iron Maiden's debut is so fucking good. I just don't get why people say It's punk-y.
>>61235911
Yeah, totallly, but so does actual discussion. (otherwise the thread would be 100% memes) The only reason shitposting is so prevalent is because there's nothing better to do.
And yeah, the whole kinda 'board culture' thing is totally fun, and it's still going to exist, but /metal/ just overdoes it.
>>61234956
Warning: pleb here
Cascadian bm or Savannah sludge are muh go to genres, but I've been getting into punk influenced stuff like converge and gaza recently
Rust in peace for 80s
Painkiller or Welcome to sky valley for 90s
Blood Mountain or Dopethrone for 2000s
The Satanist or Botanist IV for 10s
Favorite metal record is welcome to sky valley
Favorite non metal record is NIN's The Downward Spiral or Kanye Wests MBDTF.

Did rbt.asia die?
>>61236001
visits /mu/ once
>>61236066
Because there would constantly be discussion going on. The shitposters would still be a presence, but they'd just be less of a dominant force behind the thread's survival.
I also think your assumption that shitposters and 'the rest' are totally separate categories is probably not totally accurate.
>>61234892

>in the mists of the war something awoke a portal that unleashed literally every mythological creature
>Humanity was even more ravaged as the beasts overtake the Earth
>you were just a survivor, a farmer who made ends meat
>your child is sick and there is a cure on the other side of the country
>follows your travels as you face demons, creatures, warriors, raiders, mutants and face impossible odds

It's not terrible in the original sense I guess. Besides the gridmemes, discordance axis, other memes, it's as technical as first wave black

idk.
I only ever tried what was recommended here, and that's what I made of it.
The only interesting grind I have found so far is Nails
Do I need to listen to other grind to understand why discordance axis os highly regarded? Listened to it twice, the thing is like 6/10, the first few tracks are weak as fuck, but it picks up the pace later on

Yeah I guess I was more on the poverviolence side of things. Came to Nails through sceamo, which might explain a lot.
I always thought that Nails hat a lot more to offer in terms of atmosphere, compared to similar bands. So if you know "atmo"grind please tell me (and don't say Gridlink, can't really stand the vocals)

there's not really much screamo I like.
that guys vocals are too high pitched for me and don't transfer a believable abount of emotion imo. (also I have this somehow irrational hate for everything east asian)

THIS IS SHIT!
HOLY FUCK
This is a stereotypical, bland-ass inoffensive buttrock ballad but WITHOUT the groove and brashness of buttrock. Instead it's vaguely whiny and weak kinda like those mainstream kinda-sad pseudo-goth rock bands that were popular in the early 2000s.
Like holy fuck how can anyone call this shit Metal, let along Sludge Metal or Prog Metal. It's just weak radio-friendly sad buttrock. The only decent part is the synth intro because the synth has a nice sound.
>>61240518
