>>61226235
I prefer Throbbing Gristle, a band with actual talent. Though I will say I do like Jarboes cover of Love will tear us apart. She's the real talent of Swans.
>>61226226
Sorry, I rated Lianna a 3/5

>>61226390
A lot of people say that, but honestly, I think the release holds on its own without the help of the film. It's probably my AOTY.

>>61226858
Some people just aren't intellectually capable of understanding Jarboe and recognizing she is the reason Swans were so good.

Portishead's self titled is really good and worth listening to! Don't skip over it.
i dont get it are some of you just discovering these extrememly well known albums? or did you just get rym? i seriously dont understand how you could have fucking portishead rated this week in 2015.

There are many acclaimed albums people sleep on
I haven’t listened to a full Beatles and Black Sabbath album yet
>>61228607
Er, what's wrong with liking albums
>>61229305
I've been planning to watch it on a rainy night. Haven't really had the chance to though :^/
>>61230903
albums i like get anywhere from a 2-5. adjust your scale so 2.5 is the mean, median and average.
>>61230170
Always skipped over them because I don't like trip hop. It was a mistake though, because I love them now. I don't see what's so hard to understand about people skipping over some albums. Not every human can listen to every acclaimed album ever created.
>>61230170
Not everyone feels the obligation to studiously worship the canon
>>61231331
ram one star? is it that bad?
>>61231439
not bad, just not my thing
>>61229174
I don't think I have any 0.5 albums, but I don't have any 5.0 albums either. gotta refine your tastes and change your frame of reference to account for every rating available. 3.5 stars isn't average, and it isn't supposed to be.
>>61231331
Rowe and Tilbury are always great together
>>61230365

Never realized how truly fuckin mediocre this Biggie album really is, just so inconsistent and lacking any cohesion.
Been working through my library alphabetically by album, throwing in random things here and there. Just got an account a few months ago, its fun!
hi
Go ahead and laugh.
>>61231856
Thanks for reminding me to finally listen to Hansson and Karlsson
Your taste seems fine, I guess
>>61231742
That Biggie album is about 1.5 stars too high. It is complete garbage
>>61231907
Yeah, I just finished listening to them after someone mentioned them in another thread. 1st half was great, second half seemed like they couldn't figure out what to do next after Tax Free.
>>61233267
why kid a 1 star?

because he's trying to be cool

baka, I still don't get the hype behind captain beyond
>>61233405
>>61233417
because it's overrated. it doesn't even know what it wants to be. it's just another 'rock bands goes electronic'. nothing really special about it at all, in fact I think it sucks
>>61233428
it's awesome. sounds kinda like Deep Purple but prog. Myopic Void is amazing

The album's production quality was disgusting. It all sounded so heavy, but not because it's a grunge album or anything, it's because of how they produced it. Everything sounded like each of the track channeled had the bass EQ raised as high as it could possibly go so they could win in a loudness war or something. Cantrell's voice hasn't aged very well and DuVall's vocals get incredibly boring after a couple tracks, it all sounds so flat. Like, he sounds kinda like Layne, but yet the vocals are only delivered in this "talky-singing" kind of style, there's barely any strain or risk put on them, it's so safe and uninteresting, it even gets a little annoying as it goes.
The songs themselves are barely interesting or adventurous, it's almost like they wanted to please EVERYBODY who liked Alice In Chains by making a bunch of tracks that covered every style they explored throughout their career. Your Decision and When The Sun Rose Again sound like scraps from Jar Of Flies, A Looking In View and Check My Brain feel like they could've gone on Dirt, Last Of My Kind and Lesson Learned sound like they were lifted off of Facelift, and then there's Acid Bubble, which sounds like it would've gone on their self-titled album. But even then, they don't sound right. Layne is gone, Cantrell's voice has gotten as bad as Page Hamilton's and DuVall isn't that good of a replacement, so the magic these songs could've had are completely gone.
The only things from this album I found even remotely interesting were When The Sun Rose Again (which wasn't as hard to sit through as the rest of the album since there weren't any chugging, headache inducing guitars like the rest of the album), and Acid Bubble and A Looking In View's song structures. Despite the production and vocals ruining these two songs, they are structured very interestingly and I wish these were made before Layne kicked the bucket.
I really do not like this album, I might even write a review
:)
Didn't finish Lateralus yet because I can't find any way to get it (they don't digitally sell their music) and was tired of listening to a Youtube version. RATM has such cringe-worthy high schooler lyrics about fighting the man that I can't understand how it is even half as acclaimed as it is. Tom Morello is solely responsible for those 2.5 stars.

>Lateralus
Someone shared it not too long ago. Check the archive.
