Find a flaw with Scaruffi's top 20 hip-hop albums list.
He fell for the hip-hop is worth listening to meme
>>61222546
this
>boy in da corner
grime isn't hip-hop
looks fine apart from that
>Eminem #13
>Illmatic not even 20
lmao
>>61222538
>pretentious self-proclaimed patrician dad tries to into hip hop.jpg
>>61222538
Not a flaw really but it looks pretty aggressively hipster.... ah well what else to expect from old man scruffles....
A flaw is that it has ATCQ at 20 and not earlier, and not even the best ATCQ album (should be Midnight Marauders and we all know this f.am)
Cheers for Fugees the Score getting some respect. Something about Cypress Hill in the top 10 seems off but it's culturally if not sonically important in hip hop. I'm abit ashamed I haven't heard cLOUDDEAD at this point. Something in me is waiting for disappointment there. It's almost time to man up and just listen to it.
he forgot to bold Black on Both Sides
>>61222642
this
much of clouddead is ambient rather than hip-hop
mmlp has aged like shit
other than that looks p good
its all rap and the fact that he made an albums list for hip-hop is just dumb
>>61222538
>Black on Both Sides
>not Black Star
>>61222968
IN THE PILLAR OF AHMEN
>>61222538
>Eminem higher than ATCQ and Beastie Boys
>>61222968
>Black Star
>not Binary Star
>>61222538
I literally cannot
>>61222546
>>61222572
he only gave the top album on that list an 8, everything else is below an 8
A 'White man', probably European (not American), who doesn't understand the culture made this list.
>>61222626
cLOUDDEAD is great. It's just an ambient album with some high pitched rapping. Not your usual hip hop album and quite unlike everything else on the list.
>>61222538
>no Kanye
>>61223080
based
Paid in full is not above a 7, and doesn't hold up at all. Yes, it's a monumental record that changed hip-hop to come, but in terms of what we've heard today PIF is weak. Rakims lyrics can be condeced into witty bragging, his flows are very simple. Erik B's production is incredibly dated, although that really isn't a real issue.
Also Illmatic + Liquid Swords?
>>61222592
TMMLP is better desu
>>61224297
agreed
>>61222538
>cLOUDDEAD number two
i love you scruffles, no other list would do that
>>61222538
First 8 are good, after that it goes to shit.
Black on Both Sides is not bolded like the rest of the titles
>>61224406
>cLOUDDEAD
Biggest flaw: no Ye
it's awful
where's Z-Ro? Outkast? UGK? Goodie Mob? Three Six Mafia? Prince Paul?
>>61224464
Boy In Da Corner is a masterpiece but it's not hip-hop desu
>>61222574
someone explain this opinion please, genuinely curious

SCARUFFI
NERF
HERDER
Do people genuinely like the Beastie Boys? Like besides the white boy rock/rap aesthetic what is even remotely appealing about their music?
>>61225040
grime is a sub-genre of UK Garridge and has nothing to do with hip hop besides that both employ rapping as a vocal technique. RYM agrees with this distinction and does not have grime under the hip hop umbrella.
>>61225193
what? Paul's Boutique is fantastic
>>61225212
>Garridge
>>61222538
Licensed to Ill > Paul's Boutique

here's a more detailed version of what i was saying here >>61225212 written by someone who's more knowledgeable
>>61225228
The flows are fucking painful to listen to.
>>61225259
it's a meme ya dip. i know it's Garage, but people in UK pronounce it that way
>>61225193
Paul's Boutique is my favorite hip hop of all time
only plebs care about flow
it's about delivery, energy and production
>>61222538
I don't know why anyone would put Daleks first album over literally any of their others. Sure it was the original, but everything about their sequential albums is more polished and better executed.
>>61225314
>only plebs care about flow
>it's about delivery
Do you know what flow is
>>61225085
oh boy a wordpress blog, the most credible of sources
i love how it starts with 'i don't know who this guy is but i was on this meme site for furries and...'
>>61225085
oh look it's that buttblasted Beatles fanboy again
>>61225085
You do realize the rose tinted glasses we use to look at the beatles right? The beatles were a boy band comparable to modern day one direction.
>>61224297
>topic = quality
>>61225260
seconded
>>61222538
Tribe is way too low on that list. They should be top 5.
>made by scaruffi
there's the flaw
>>61225418
It just has too many memorable songs for me. Took me a little to grow into them, but I can't stop listening to it now.
>>61222538
Well I disagree with some of the choices, but having a different opinion than my isn't a flaw.
>>61222538
The No1 album has an 8/10
>>61225405
*soft JB voice*
what do you mean?
>>61222538
>no Nas
>Eminem
>>61226497
I love Illmatic but if you were familiar with Scaruffi's ratings it wouldn't be so suprising
>>61222538
36 chambers should be number 1 imhofam
>>61226518
EXPLAIN YOURSELF, WOMAN
>>61226591
All Illmatic has is "flow" and Scaruffi rates it compositionally
(this is assuming we are not that impressed by Premier)
(we are not btw)
>>61226657
>Scaruffi doesn't get hip-hop
Oh, okay then. Explains a lot.
>>61224346
imagine thinking this
>>61226657
What the actual fuck is this comment?
>>61226952
What the actual fuck is this comment?
>>61226706
In a sense yeah, but there's something fun about listening to hip hop in a rockist way - if you try his top albums they will all be great compositionally
>>61227049
>rockist
nice meme
>>61228176
>not understanding basic, common terms
waste of my time
>>61222538
no Death Grips
Remove:
-mmlp
-boy in da corner (gr8 album, just not hh)
Add:
-madvillainy
-breakin combs
>>61229314
you somehow managed to make scaruffi's dogshit list even worse, congrats
>>61222538
it was written in like 2003. that's like making a best of rock albums in 1975
>>61224297
fuck you
>>61222538
>13. Marshall Mathers LP
Dropped. Not saying hip hop is not derivative simplistic shit, but putting Paul's Boutique and Low End Theory below that is fucking heresy. Also no Scarface or Jay Z on his top 20 list? This guy has shit taste in hip hop.
>>61225085
I fucking love how bootyblasted Beattles fags get with Scaruffi
>>61222538

Yikes @ hating on MMLP
Great album. His magnum optist for sure.
>>61222546
this is objectively correct
>>61222538
Eminem is for 13 year olds
>>61232422
>magnum optist
>>61232516
ayy lmao
>>61232516
Wrong. The Marshall Mathers LP is a brilliant album and I hate most of his new shit. It's very raw and the beats and darkness are great and I love it.
>>61232533
>It's very raw and the beats and darkness are great and I love it.
oh thx now i realize it is a truely great album XD
>>61232579
Grow up. It's a objective classic. Most people with brains know this. No bad tracks either.
Anyone here actually like that Dalek album?
Cypress Hill and the Beastie Boys have both aged horribly
>>61229564
