There are tons of hardcore bands / metal bands that could easily fall into the loosely defined lines of metalcore, however they are kept away from the label because of the respect the music gets from the industry.

Liturgy's Aesthethica is a great album.
The production is way above average.
The philosophy behind it is innovative and fresh.
But it's not as good as The Ark Work. That's the real trascendental black metal. I can somehow understand what h3 meant.

There are a few metalcore bands that I really like. That said, it's hard to deny that the genre isn't one of the most saturated metal trends and that a bunch of shitty bands didn't jump on the metalcore/deathcore horse and beat it to fucking death.
/mu/'s attitude towards Japanese music is kinda shitt. Boris, Fishmans, Midori, etc. are all incredible artists but a lot of discussion ends up turning into "lol tumblr weebs" vs "fucking normies"
