Personally, I really enjoy the lyricism and somewhat simple guitar style. The simplistic and almost underwhelming (albeit, not in a necessarily bad way {if that makes sense}) instrumentals force you to pay closer attention to the struggles that Jason portrays in his vocals. It almost reminds me of the use of simple guitar chords on In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. Truly a striking album. I really recommend giving it another shot.
