Let's have a thread for the discussion of live stuff.

>Did you see any good shows this year?
>What shows are you going to in 2016?
>What's the best show you've been to?
>Favorite live album/concert film?
>What's a show you'd give one of your testicles to see in person?
>>
My top this year in no order
>Kendrick
>modest mouse
>glass animals
>jungle
>future islands
>>
>>61188174
And next year going to wherever gorrilaz go
>>
>What shows are you going to in 2016?
Austin Psych Fest. Hyped to see Anco, Boris, and Brian Wilson.
>Favorite live album/concert film?
Stop Making Sense
>What's a show you'd give one of your testicles to see in person?
Stop Making Sense and 98.12.28 Otokotachi no Wakare
>>
>>61187913
>tfw this AND the money store both came out on my birthday
>>
>tfw never seen a live show

Am I missing out. None of my friends ever want to see anything and nothing in my area has ever really struck my fancy.
>>
>good shows this year
Sufjan was incredible

>shows going to next year
Going back to Bonnaroo for the third year in a row. Other than that, who knows

>best show i've been to
Sufjan is up there as far as pure talent is concerned. Favorite show would be Grouplove at Bonnaroo 2014 because the crowd was unreal, though I don't necessarily care for Grouplove's music as a whole.

>favorite live album/concert film
Shut up and play the hits and the accompanying album. For this year, I'd go with Live at 9:30

>show I'd love to go to
LCD Soundsystem and Radiohead. Or Pink Floyd at any point in the 70s.
>>
>>61187913
>Did you see any good shows this year?
Saw about 20 shows this year. The best were Diarrhea Planet and Titus Andronicus.
>2016 shows
Hopefully seeing Gogol Bordello on the 1st or 2nd, definitely seeing Titus Andronicus and Craig Finn in March or April, probably twice.
>Best show
Hard to say. Sigur Ros and Flaming Lips from 2 years ago are up there, Nick Cave and Diarrhea Planet from 2014 are up there, and Titus Andronicus this year is up there. Blue Man Group is less a concert than musical theatre, but that may be one of the greatest experiences of my life.
>Favorite live album
Stop Making Sense, The Name of This Band is Talking Heads, The Last Waltz, Elvis Costello at Hollywood High '78 just off the top of my head are some great ones. Don't really have a favorite.
>Testicle Show
If we can travel through time, there's not much I wouldn't do to see some of the DC punk/post-hardcore scene in the early 90's. Nation of Ulysses in '91? Holy fuck that would be magic.

>Did you see any good shows this year?
Tame Impala twice, Unknown Mortal Orchestra(and went backstage with them), American Football, NMH, Wilco, Fidlar twice, Viet Cong, Built to Spill, Kurt Vile, The Weeknd, Father John Misty

>What shows are you going to in 2016?
Whoever is at Shaky Knees

Best show I've ever seen was Neutral Milk Hotel, honestly. But Father John Misty had a kickass performance and Viet Cong was incredible. All of the shows I saw were good

Favorite Live album is pic related

I'd have killed a man to see LCD Soundsystem's last show at MSG
>>
>>61188676
Some of the best concerts I've been to (and probably half of all shows overall), I've gone to alone. You can talk to random people, or not, but even for a shy person like me it's easy to insert yourself into a conversation someone around you is having. You automatically have something in common with them since you're both seeing the same band. If there are no shows close to you that you'd want to see, don't stress, but you shouldn't let lack of interest from friends stop you from going to a show you might like.

Only saw two shows this Sun Kil Moon and Florence + the Machine and they were both great.

None atm

Three standout shows for would be Radiohead, Jack Dejohnatte and Cat Power.
>Favourite Live Album

Sonic Youth and Fugazi. Also John Coltrane or Charles Mingus

>>

>>

I saw MM this year, thought they were decent. They opened with King Rat which ruled.

Number Girl
>>
This is my favorite album right now, live or non. One of the most rewarding albums out there if you're farmiliar with Fishmans' discography, even if you don't enjoy them that much.
>>
>>61190753
mm's new, bad album detracts from their whole thing. like they were a tight 90s indie band with a pretty consistent discog but now it's tainted with how horribly they're milking their past success. they're not the first band to do that but it's a bummer.
>>
>>61190910
Agreed.
This is literally the best live album to ever exist.
Containing the best of their discography in the best renditions and ending with the best song (Long Season) and the story behind the album and how it was their last show and Shinji Sato's angelic voice...
It's all just so rewarding.
11/10
>>
>>61190910

I'm saving my first listen for the 28th. I've been listening to them a lot lately, I think they're part of my top 5 artists now.

maybe a repress someday?? Probably not tho ;_;

>>61191139
Wew. It's quite the listen. Have fun.

It is on vinyl.

It's part of this box-set collection, which is the most rarest fucking thing in the world, it's near impossible to find it anywhere.

I can't even go to live shows anymore because my friend I usually go with always gets drunk and obnoxious and ruins it for me. I wouldn't mind if I was also drunk but I am the one to drive so can't drink much.

I don't enjoy shows as much with him, but don't enjoy them alone either. I need new friends.

Well, it has a collection of 13 LPs, so it was already super expensive launching at some obscene price like $300. This was also before vinyl got super popular again, so it was already pretty limited in production.

Maybe we can petition Polydor for a reissue?

If you want one, you're going to have to work for it.

>Make a fuckton of money so you have a thousand+ bucks to spare
>Find a trustworthy middleman in Japan who will (securely) ship something that big and fragile to where you live
>Stalk the Japanese Yahoo Auctions website, as that is where all the cool Japanese stuff gets sold
>If you find it, prepare to have the bidding war of the century

/toy/ can give more details when it comes to buying things from Japanese auctions that don't ship overseas.

I saw Unknown Mortal Orchestra here in NZ the other day, and in the South Island too which is kinda crazy because we rarely have anyone decent come down here.
It was my first proper show and it cool, I mean it's great to actually see these people you like in person and they do a lot more with the songs than what's actually on the albums. There were a lot of sweet extended solos.
There were a lot of more alternative looking mu-tier girls there as well but of course I could never just start talking to a random person.
Another problem is I'd rather just sit down because it's sore standing on my feet for so long and it's hard on my back after a while too and the drinks are insanely overpriced to the point where I thought I might've just thrown them at the bartender in a rage when they told me how much they cost.

I've also seen that Mac DeMarco is coming down here too next year which is absolutely insane to me again, because like I said we very rarely get anyone 'big'. Seems like tickets have sold out some places tho so I need to have another look. I'd be heartbroken if I couldn't see him live.

The only shows I can even remember seeing this year wasTHEESatisfaction/Sleater-Kinney and Sufjan Stevens, both in Nashville.

THEESatisfaction were great and Sleater-Kinney were good. I went to see Sufjan w/ my dad--he was upset he didn't do more banjo-centric music (he's not a fan of his electronic stuff). But I had a great time, glad I finally got to see him live. My favorite show of the year.

Yeh. I got it for ~$600 on a proxy Japanese bidding website. I'd been saving money and making steady income for like 2 years and hadn't been compelled to ever spend it on non-music/computer stuff, so I bought this. It sounds great. The very subtle break between part 3 and part 4 is where the flip happens.

I'd been browsing for a copy of this box set for over a year or so, and this was the first time I found it for under $1000, and it was mint. Not rich at all, just a really great find.

Pic is the side shot.

Last LP is just Long Season cut in half.

>>61191781

Season single. It's a single version of Long Season with the same lyrics, but a completely different song. Very underrated, I would suggest looking it up. Also Walking in the Rhythm single + remixes, In the Air single, and a live album. Really good, but not as good as the 98 live album.

While they probably will never get to Absent Lovers or The Great Deceiver quality ever again, their current tours are pretty good. They play a lot of classics like Starless and 21st Century Schizoid Man, but don't really touch the 80s, 90s, or early 00s much.

I wish he would invite Belew back and get Bruford back on the drums. While Mastelotto and Jakszyk aren't bad by any means, they just aren't the same. Glad to see Levin back on Bass/Stick, though; Gunn kinda sucks.

Buyee.jp, a proxy service for a few Japanese bidding websites.
