>there are people out there that care this much about music they don't like
>>

>>
>>61180507

>still using "pretentious" as an argument
Pretentious is nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction out of insecurity towards the underlying knowledge that you don't understand something. What a fucking ridiculous conclusion to draw that the artist was simply posturing, just because you're ignorant.

In fact, calling someone pretentious puts YOU in the position of the arbiter of all taste, which is itself pretentious.

Kill yourself.
>>
>>61181098
To be fair, I think certain things could be reasonably described as pretentious (i.e. something strung together by only a really thin concept without any actual understanding of anything), but that doesn't generally apply to the things that are frequently called pretentious.
>>
>>61181098
But you cannot deny that Neon Genesis Evangelion claimed to have much more depth than it actually exemplified.
>>
>>61180463
it's funny because the majority of 'japanoise' is anti-art at its core anyway

way to look like a retard
>>
>>61180463

made you feel something, didn't it? then it's art
>>
>>61181266
if I raped you would you call it art?
>>
>>61181098
Dumb weeaboo
>>
>>61181153
I agree with that. Though, designating and defining a fleshed-out concept is difficult and a bit of a grey area. Regardless, >>61181227 is right in this case.

>>61181160
I don't actually recall NGE ever explicitly stating that it was deep. Wasn't most of that bullshit projected onto it by fans?

>>61181302
OK.

The series never claimed to have depth and Anno himself has stated the morals of the series plainly.

That said, the characters themselves are all very three-dimensional

>Can anyone explain to me why noise "music" is considered music?
the only accurate definition of music is that any human expression considered music by a group of people is music. the only functional use of the term "music" is to denote the collection of art that people think about and discuss as music. it is undeniable that there is a group of people who produce, distribute, discuss, and consume noise music in the same way that people do other forms of music so there is no value in trying to differentiate noise music from other forms of music.
>Why do people enjoy it?
There are a lot of reasons people like noise. Some people enjoy the aggression of it and may find a catharsis through listening to it. Many of these fans found noise through metal, punk, or noise rock. Some people just enjoy the texture of the sounds. This is the same kind of enjoyment that jazz fans get from the timbre of a saxophone or rock fans get from the timbre of a guitar. In the case of noise that enjoyment is taken to the extreme and most other aspects of the music such as rhythm and melody are stripped away to have a pure exploration of timbre and texture. Some people also enjoy enjoy the conceptual nature of some noise projects. For example may of Dominick Fernow's projects are instrumental noise and industrial techno given context by descriptive song titles and creative artwork. This kind of multimedia aesthetic unity is something that is common in noise and is something many people look for in a quality noise project. Of course people can like it for more than one reason as well as other reasons I didn't list just like every other genre.

you think your taste makes you better than other people.

but we don't give a shit about your taste at all, you're just an insecure little cunt.
