yeah alex g's music is good to clean to and shit, but any in depth listening will yield uncomfortable realizations about certain patterns and cliches in his music (also probably his fanbase). still a good arranger tho
yeah the comparison to viet cong is warranted. i immediately thought of women (precursor band to viet cong) when i first saw palm. in the end i generally prefer palm the most, because of their unrestricted songwriting and their obtuse confidence; that sort of mentality goes a long way when there isn't too much theory informing your music. the sounds are good and they let them ride and mutate.
