>just listen guys
>implying anyone who calls themselves an actual music fan won't know who freddie hubbard is already...
excellent choice. i'd have to go with roy elridge or ted curson myself
int terms of more "modern" trumpeters, hargrove is def up there

I posted that link because it's really beautiful and not one of his most famous works so people might not know it.
I actually pretty much never listened to either roy erlidge or ted curson and that's pretty terrible by me. Definitely agree with Hargrove being one of the best right. Other modern trumpet players I really like are Avishai Cohen and Alex Sipiagin.

all-time Miles or Hubbard
for contemporary local scene people I see live regularly:
Verneri Pohjola https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnFxWsO9pYE

on the jtg-front Adam O'Farrill is pretty great on Bird Calls considering that he's just 21 (also grandson of Chico and son of Arturo)

Is there an actual jtg face jpeg? If not can somebody make one. I need to post it in every thread where someone mentions Bird Calls

Yea lol it's beacuse I don't have a freddie hubbard related image. But that miles album has great trumpet work as well so it's still relevant.

I don't think I ever saw him talking about Avishai Cohen.

Lee Morgan is great he used to be my favorite trumpet player. But recently I realized that he repeats himself so much on every solo and he has almost no versatility. You can hear chunks of his solo from Moanin on pretty much every other solo he plays. That's how repetitive he gets. Saying that, he's an excellent band leader and Tomcat is definitely one of my favorite albums. I mean, he can provide a LOT of energy and he sounds terrific but sometimes that's just not enough.

>Clifford Brown
hell's yeah. Study in Brown is one of the GOAT jazz albums
Swingin' is the greatest jazz track under three minutes - 100% awesome
