Post an album you wish you could hear for the first time again.
The whole album will never stop giving me goosebumps, but that opening track is such a powerful listen.
this albums was fucking great since first listen
>>61118926
>listens to autechre once
Cliche but dsotm. Before I got high and listened to that thing, I never listened to music outside of the radio and the occasional coldplay song on youtube. Never understood what music was all about, what heights it could reach, until dsotm. There's a damn good reason that record still sells so much.
>>61119708
kid a has nothing to do with autechre

The same chord progression for 4 entire minutes?
i dont remember my first impressions anymore, it was 11 or 12years ago
>>61120454
>look at how good my taste is guys!!
nobody cares f a m i l y
>>61120517
>reacting to the post at all
lmao
>>61119694
i dunno, i still get goosebumps every time the rainbow begins
>>61120506
this was my introduction to jazz because the cover looked cool, so it took about 8 listens of the title track before i could appreciate it
>>61118926
This.
And pretty much any Bjork or Sigur Ros album.
>>61120454
And yet you couldn't come up with a single album you would rather listen to again for the first time?
>>61120526
Wow agreed.
>>61120537
>acts like a retard on purpose
>someone tells him he is being retarded
>LOL I GOT U
i bet you wonder why this board sucks
>>61120613
Basically, all my favorite albums.
>Post an album you wish you could hear for the first time again.
..is just a thinly veiled way of saying "what's your favorite album ever /mu/?"
>>61118926
Deftones b sides and rarities album.
First time I ever listened to them was getting a burned CD of that.. It was love since.
>>61120662
Some albums are proper growers tho, and shit the first time round in comparison, some albums are great first time listens and don't hold up.
>>61120471
try searching for "loveless pitch shifted up one semitone" on youtube. It recontextualised a lot of the album for me.
>>61120728
Not that guy. But my opinion on an album doesn't change *that much* from listen to listen.
>>61120662
Kek. So you're saying all of your favourite music appealed to you at first listen? Some music grows on you; some music hits hard at first listen.
Get out of /mu/, please.
>>61120556
>Bitches Brew
it really blew me away on the first listen by the sheer swirling magnitude of it - it sounded like a whole pulsating urban city at night, dangerous and full of surprises
it doesn't really have that effect on me now that I've kind of figured out what's going on each stereo channel and who's playing on it. that whole sense of the music being this weird consuming mass was really fascinating to me
>>61120891
>Some music grows on you;
Only if you're a pleb who can't into the music at your first listen, like yourself.
>>61120662
Not necessarily. The best first time listen I ever had was Let it Be by the Replacements. I heard it at the perfect time in my life and I doubt it would have the same effect on me now at 21 than it did at 18, even though I still love it. I'd want to reexperience that exact listen, not just hear it new again
>>61121225
if you think people are born patrician then your the pleb
>>61118926
>listens to spirit they've gone once
This
>>61121351
If you use either of those words you're a dipshit.
>>61121225
How are you even trying to argue this. Stop pretending you're some prodigy genius that listened to trout mask replica and instantly thought it was pure genius and that you would love it forever.
It took me about 4 listens to spiderland before i could love it, because it's a type of rock I'd never come across before.
It took a lot of jazz listening before I could like the genre.
And the same for noise rock and black metal and shoegaze and pretty much everything that wasn't pop rock accessible bullshit.
Music grows on you because we mature as listeners. I don't like the same movies now that I liked when I was a teenager. Because taste in music changes over listens and ageing.
fucking child, honestly
I really don't understand this.
>>61120875
I'm this guy. And while my opinion on things does change, It never crosses that line between "I hate this" and "I like this". It only changes on how much I like it or how much I dislike it, but not *if* I like it. I may not *understand it* the first time I listen to it, but I don't need to understand things to like them and vice versa.

Why did you post 3 times? Bait?
was at the height of my despair when i first heard this, pretty powerful
>and when they clean the streets ill be the only shit thats left behind
I love self deprecating music
This shit blew my mind when I first heard it
The idea of punk played on acoustic instruments was so alien
I spent so many days underage drinking with my friends to this album
>>61124374
Literally was about to post this, fucking 10/10 taste nigga
I'm literally jealous of people who haven't heard this
>>61119960
>>61120048
>>61120129
he's right. kid a was influenced by aphex twin, tortoise, BOC and bjork.
>>61120857

>>61120471
>>61120857
perfect posts
>>61124374
this album is so fucking good.
>>61124635
I haven't and I probably never will
>>61124667
...and autechre. thom has specifically mentioned lp5/ep7 influencing the album. personally, i can't hear it but w/e.
>>61118992
My recommendation for anyone who hasn't heard this yet is to listen to the mono mix first, then get into it and love it. Then listen to the stereo mix. You get to experience it twice.
>>61121549
I couldn't even get thorough it the first time because it was too powerful.I remember watching the world die, stuck in a pod in the bottom of the ocean, listening as radio transmissions slowly all die out one by one.
>>61120165
*edit: Albums you wish you never heard
>>61125403
Stop trolling man. And even if you aren't, you know nobody wants to hear that, so why post it?
>>61125385
>>61119694
Can't wait for my record player to come back from repair so I can put this LP on.
>>61118926
>>61125470
What can I say? I had a strong reaction to the album. Are you really going to doubt that?
>>61125501
>>61125385
You described my feels perfectly, the imagery of this album is fucking POWERFUL.
>>61125542
RIP
>>61125577
What did he mean by this /mu/?
>>61125385
my feelings too
The problem is a lot of albums I heard for the first time would had a bigger impact on me then than it would now given how much music I've heard. Unfortunately music enjoyment seems to have diminishing returns.
>>61126056
This is probably my case with >>61125999
When I first heard it, I had never heard anything else like it ever before and it probably guided me towards a general better music taste.
Any Swans album, especially The Seer, Soundtracks, and TBK.
>>61119694
>>61121549
>>61127724
These as well.
I`m surprised non of you have posted any BoC
>>61119015
>that climax on Meet the Light Child
none
I seldom like an album on first listen
>>61120509
agree.
can't forget the moment when i first heard 4st 7lb
>>61120662
some albums catch one's ear at first moment but soon get bored
it was dark side of the moon imo
>>61119811
typical radiohead fan
>>61124635
>tfw 12 year old me first heard the opening riff to smells like teen spirit
>>61124635
As if there is anyone alive who hasn't heard this
>>61131885
I've heard most of the tracks from it but I have yet to listen to the whole album. I haven't been into Nirvana much since middle school and I only listened casually then.
I did listen to Bleach last night on a whim and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
>>61130578
>>61129172
Good-ass albums, but how are they any more special the first time then on subsequent listens?

CRAWWWLING IN MY SKIIIIIIN
>>61120165
definitely this one
I remember listening to it on the stereo in my room on christmas day for the first time when i was young. It was everything people made it out to be.
without any doubt i would choose spiderland.
>>61120599
i miss this. thanks for the memories
>>61118926
i almost cried. almost.
>>61135734
Catchiest fucking songs my 15 year old self had ever heard.

Recently been staying up till 4-5 in the morning, going to some hills nearby and it's really chill watching the sun rise. Need chill album to listen to while doing this.
>>61137155
This album blew my mind on the first listen.
>>61138355
Its in a class of its own , shame they barely release anything. Neither of the two albums after this did anything for me
>>61120599

And my answer is probably Agaetis Byrjun too
>>61120165
This
>>61136034
This is the first album I ever actually started taking a notice of production style and quality on just because it's so amazing production wise.
hearing that opening for the first time is a magical moment
>>61120165
>a few years ago
Jesus, is this place just filled with kids these days? My parents made me listen to this 20 years ago and I still consider it one of the best albums of all time by far. As a matter of fact it's been too long... gonna listen to it now.
Mostly because I forgot how it made me feel.
I know I liked it, but was it irony, that only then turned into eagerness, or was it always pure love...
>>61139125
lol
>>61120165
hey dad whats up
GMC changed my life
>>61120509
why do you like it ?
it's too glammy to me [allthough I like their faggy looks in that aera]
>>61139578
I can't quite tell what Good Morning, Capt is about, someone enlighten me.
>>61120454
> passively-aggresivey criticizing others taste without having the balls to lay out your own
>>61135609
>help
Why? Stop trying to force yourself to like things you think you're supposed to like. It's fine if you don't like it, no one's going to lynch you, fuck's sake.
>>61118926
Oh fuck oh fuck so many to choose from
Here's one
I'm also partial to these

I didn't think anything of this album when I first heard it, it only got better with time for me.
>>61139169
This
>>61139221
I haven't listened this, but it's on my list to listen to
And the rest of their music
>>61141025
do you know what passive-aggressiveness is because i don't think you do
>>61120599
Listening to it. Sounds like very other tycho chill core uninspired crap you get recommendations for on youtube.
>>61142935
only correct answer ITT, only non meme answer ITT. Damn /mu/ sucks.
Am I the only one who always likes albums better after some more listens?
