Because the rise of hip[pster culture and indie faggotry has caused a bunch of retarded high schoolers to think that they are cool for playing Jazzmasters/Jaguars. /mu/ loves to bait, so they tell these people that those guitars are shit. In reality, they aren't even close to being the same thing, despite how they look, and as far as legitimate guitar players go, they are always going to be slightly niche guitars because of their odd configuration and controls. 3/4 of people who say they like Jazzmasters and/or Jaguars are just trying to fit into some kind of special club that has arisen because they are the the less renowned/played models of the most popular guitar brand.

Friend of mines got one, I plan on stealing it when he's not looking. Pic related is my guitar, not sure why I picked the tele way back when (maybe price) but I love it now. I always wanted a strat when I was a kid but due to my music tastes and the way I play I'm leaning towards a Jazz/Jaguar. I've also got a Gibson SG with p-90's because it was cheaper than the full inlays and regular humbuckers.
