The thing that helps some people get into the vocals is to think about them as the ultimate expression of feelings, literally screaming one's heart out. Already heard most of these bands seen probably over half of them, but its till nice too see some taste in these threads for a change. Check out Wounded Knee from Indianapolis if you haven't. Old stuff is pretty basic screamo but newest stuff is unreal and they're some of the nicest and most gun dudes to chill with.

Hard to say really. I like a lot of them different reasons. Coma because Shawn puts on a great show and puts so much emotion into each performance, Capacities cuz watching them riff is super entertaining, caust were great because the new ep is absolutely crushing live, flesh born because they're insanely loud, kaoru nagisa because they have 1000 fucking members and they all go hard as fuck, and lord snow are great people to chill with and are musically on a whole other compared to a lot bands (especially the drummer). If you haven't already che k out Anodes and Laika; 2 great bands from st. Louis that just put out a split together.

Yeah I used to live in Indiana and have seen them countless times. Even when I was a total noob in the scene they were super cool and always made me feel welcome. They're supposed to drop a full length this year and I can't fucking wait. I've heard some of the new stuff and its safe to say it will be an aoty contender for sure.

I'm in Illinois now. Moved out here for work. I go to shows in st louis when there are good bands in town, but the town I live in has now music scene to speak of. Me and my friends are trying to change that though. We started a screamo band about a year ago and have an ep's worth of material written (recorded demos a month ago but were rerecording it after the first of the year now that we have better gear) and just started writing our "next release". Haven't played any real shows yet other than having friends over to our practice space to party and watch us play, but I think once we get some material officially released that will start changing. I'd like to book some other bands, but we're kinda located in a cultural void and I worry about the turnout (or lack there of) if we did.
