The albums are simply a consolidation of various publications' AOTY lists, I didn't choose them. Also I know that the bracket is wonky, the list order was randomized which I now realize was a bad idea but oh well, which is why the Jenny Hval pick seems out of place compared to albums like OPN's or Joanna's that were eliminated early. Now I know better for next time.

I should have, but even then she was in the top 32 yesterday when I started this (she's at 35 now). The reason I got more specific than just using albumoftheyear was because of anomalies like Chris Stapleton and Jason Isbell that /mu/ doesn't give two shits about. I think next time I'll use something more concrete and specific to /mu/ though, maybe last.fm or comb through a bunch of the AOTY threads and charts.

Well essentially he would have a ballot sheet that had numerous categories such as best album, best single, best new artist, worst single, worst album so on and so forth. People would fill out the ballot sheet and email it to him and he would count them along with some helpers.
About a year ago I personally try to reach out to him to see if we could take over because he made it clear that he didn't want to do it anymore. See I wanted to still carry on the /mu/ awards but have them more as an award ceremony over /mu/tant radio (which I run) but he never really got back to me :/
