Because it's "experimental" and extremely accessible. It's soft rock with a song in 7/4 and some sections that are "whoooooaaaaaa like space duuuuuuuuuude", and everyone can find something they enjoy on the album from "reel moosic" shitheads, stoners, Top 40 plebs, etc.
Personally it's a 7.5/10 but hey what do I know

Because it's everyone's first taste into music that isn't highly defined. Most people never get any farther than that, so it's the equivalent of dipping your toe into the sea on a chilly day, declaring "well that's cool. I've achieved true oneness this day" and promptly fucking off to the warmth of the Top 40s.

never considered it the best of pink's neither, but it's certainly a great album
It's a nearly perfect album. Money flows just fine, at the time of production it was on the b side and so usually had to be turned anyway so the difference wasn't as notable. Time is one of the best songs ever written. 'And then one day you'll find, ten years have gone behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun'. I mean come on. That's fantastic.
