o-oh
;_;
hey guys sorry about my absence
i'm done with finals but it wasn't that, i actually got banned for one of those political derails lol
1:
8/10
8/10, may have overrated it a bit but VOIVOD RIFFS
7/10, weird but imperfect
6/10, there's a funeral doom riff in a deathcore album wtf
6/10, still dunno what to make of this but the prog bits are super cool
2:
9/10, possibly their best album holy shit
5/10, sort of decent but tracks are unambitious
8/10
7/10, some riffs that i'd expect from a 9/10 album but it's way too long. gotta get into it more though
6/10, one of the better -core albums i listened to recently
3:
3/10, i have basically no recollection of this except a vague feeling of suckage
5/10, not as good as i remember
9/10, FUUUUCJCK YESSS
2/10, zero dynamic
6/10, may even be 7/10! pretty decent tech deathcore, some creative riffing
4:
4/10, polish mathcore, not as good as nyia or antigama
7/10, i've cooled on this a little but it's fun
4/10, why deluhi why
7/10, if Galneryus were a christcore band, surprisingly good
2/10, no melody
5:
3/10, seemed promising but then entered the Chug Zone
7/10, pretty decent! more melodic and emotional than i expect from the genre, sorta spacy for mathcore
3/10, i mean it has decent moments but i'm feeling cross at generic metalcore albums even if they're well-executed
8/10, i was blown away by the first track and, though nothing quite matches that, this is consistently very strong. don't like the vocal effects though
3/10, boring prog melodeath deathcore whatever
i'll do a sharethread with some -core stuff tonight since it's been a while and i had stuff to upload while i was out being banned

>>61044256
Your mother went looking for you here the other day. Also, being the deathcore expert I wanted to see, what can you tell me about this "deathcore uses no kickdrum in its blast beats" meme? I've heard it a lot before but it sounds ridiculous to me and haven't found a clear-cut example of it yet. I'm almost certain that it's just people that believe that blast beats where the bass and snare aren't alternating don't exist or something.
>>61044469

8/10 goes hard
9/10 idk any other albums this chaotic that are also this listenable, nice grooves
5/10 by far the least impressive release i've heard from him thus far but it's still jute gyte, yakno?
8/10 one of my favorites from this year any genre. bolt gun has one of the best riffs of the year
7/10 would rate higher if it was just AnB but the delta 9 part was kinda weak
2:
7/10 i can't totally fall for this band/record but the songwriting is clearly very good
6/10 the tracks that are good are great but some are just plain weak 2bh
5/10 just my first listen, like the kinda industrial(?) influence but ended up sounding way to clean and not grindy
7/10 its fuckin wold what can i say
6/10 totally not the type of metalcore i'm into but they write dang good songs
3:
9/10 i love xasthur sue me
7/10 the slow riffs >>>>>>>> the fast riffs
5/10 a little too much emphasis on the same few techniques
like 4/10 pales in comparison to their first album but the vocals are very intense
7/10 would probably rate higher but it was my first listen and i don't wanna go to crazy but i love some dual guitars
4:
8/10 (would probably rate higher but it was my first listen and i don't wanna go to crazy) but dang what songwriting. one of the bonus tracks sounded like elliott smith
6/10 i've gone through their like whole discography in the past three days and this was my least fave but that's not saying much
5/10 not as good as i expected but i will def listen more and my opinion will probably change
7/10 idk like i said i listened to their whole discography and i forgot what this was like but i liked it
9/10 MELODY ON CLEEK
5:
9/10 metal aoty 2bh
4/10 laughably bad lyrics but still some riffs. i'll come back to it
8/10 they can do no wrong 2bh and i think this album is less repetative than some of their others
6/10 my first actual listen idk
8/10 it fun

1:
6/10, kinda weaker nomeansno to me, too long and trying a little too hard to be clever without delivering the mad spazz rhythms
7/10, rymcore but very good
7.5/10, fun and spunky japanese new wave, not as repetitive and obnoxious as many others can be
5/10, depressive age's weakest but still decent alt rock
5/10, second album much better
2:
5/10, first impression it falls way short of war3, really unprofessional/sloppy in a bad way, bland drumming, a few good/interesting songs though
7/10, for stoner rock it's great
6/10, good
6/10, good kvlt russian grindy stuff, a little more conservative than some would have you believe though
8/10, classic soul
3:
6/10, first impression, surprisingly clean/natural sounding quirkywave, grower potential,
8/10, underrated by tryhards
6/10, good but the atmosphere sounds like fuckin 70s radio rock or some shit
8.5/10, classic uspm
5/10, a few great songs, mostly average
4:
7.5/10, great soundtrack, early motoi sakuraba work
8/10, practically aor but it's so lush
8/10, classic isleys
7/10, great noise rock, vaguely mathy in a way
6.5/10, fun
5:
7/10, nice aggressive prog
8/10, classic isleys
7.5/10, not much of a jazz guy but i like this album a lot
7/10, never checked them out before but i should have earlier
8/10, rymcore but goat

So, on one side this is pretty cool because it fixes the problem I have with Death, which is their dull, tidy and conformist rhythm section, which is taken over by the english groovy brand of dm a la early Carcass along with their hardcore edge (albeit without the grind blasting which would've been a really nice addition). It also keeps the cool things about Death like some meaningful lead work and those crushing doomy passages. And it adds sparse d-beats to top it all, it's great.. except when it's not great. Even as a hardcore enthusiast fire and foremost, one of my main gripes with swedeath is the redundancy and repetitiveness of the swedeath's signature rocking 1-2-1-2-1-2 powerchords over a crusty rhythm. Maybe it's because I've already listened to a bunch of hardcore but those passages just get boring and really predictable at some point.
>>61045168
I used to try and trick myself into thinking I liked The Plasmarifle back when they first came out. Like they were some kind of "exception" in the world of Deathcore. Every time I listened to them, I just turned it off. Oh well.

Enjoying this. I get the feeling sometimes that the Deathcore haters would enjoy this type of stuff if it had a more standard dirtier tone tbhdesu. The cleaner tone is sort of refreshing to me, though. And yeah, the rhythm section and some of the melody work are straight out of VoM, but everything's executed very well. I'm finishing the third track, do they eventually get polybreakchugdown happy? I wouldn't mind hearing some of that if it's in worked well and it's not redundant.

>>61051250
I've given atmoshit a million tries, but I came to the conclusion that it's just shit music, as a deathhead thd only black metal bands I can tolerate are immortal, dissection, darkthrone, mayhem, ved buens ende
>>61051317
>no Emperor
>>61051250
Venom, Celtic Frost and Bathory first.
Next comes Sabbat and Sarcófago.
Lastly listen to Root, Master's Hammer, Rotting Christ, and Samael.
Now you're ready to explore the Norwegian black metal and realize it's all shit except for Immortal, Emperor and Enslaved.
After that shitfest, you get into Akercocke and Belphegor.
>>61051277
>>61051317
What black metal would you recommend to a proghead? I like new Enslaved, but that's barely black metal

You really think that? Personally didn't find any good bm outside of second wave save for the proggier bands
filter iopq
>>61051509
I can't take it seriously because I don't appreciate the aesthetics. I admit that black metal + math is an interesting concept like a previous anon mentioned, but it's too clusterfucky for me. It makes me uncomfortable saying that because I loved Solefald's latest.
How is this? I enjoyed it but I've read mixed reviews.
>>61051579

I listened to all of the second wave bands. It's all pretty simple music and not really interesting once you've heard a lot of it.

Enslaved's progblack albums are so exhausting.
Once I listen to one, I don't spin it again for weeks or even months.
They're so fucking immense and memorable but I can't appreciate single songs, I have to listen to the whole album.
Very few bands that have that effect on me; Edge of Sanity and Opeth being others.
