Merchant Ships? Ha, let me tell you a little something about Merchant Ships, or more specifically, their guitarist, Nick Stuttsman. So, lets go back to 1998, only a few months after Merchant Ships released their debut album. They came to my town and I went to their show and was completely blown away by the whole thing. It was an almost spiritual experience. They even played a cover of my favorite song, "Ima Scatman (ski-ba-bop-ba-dop-bop)" by Scatman John! After the show, I went over to the merch table and talked to Jack Sneff about how much I loved their performance and then Nick Stuttsman sits down right next to him. He looked very uninterested in everything happening around him so I was reluctant to say anything but I did. I told him he was good at guitar. I stuttered a lot. Like, ALOT. Literally every word. He looks up at me with that same uninterested look,,, replies, "I know", and winks. I got really nervous and decided I should just leave. As I walk out of the basement, Nick runs up to me and says the band needs a place to crash and if I really want to prove that I'm a true fan, I need to let the band stay at my house...

So, I give the band directions to my house, get on my scooter, and go home. They showed up about an hour after I got home. I was getting worried and purposely wasn't watching NCIS: Las Angeles (my show) because I wanted them to think I was cool. That's why I was watching WWE Smackdown instead. So, they ring my doorbell and I open the door for them and they thank me for letting them stay there and I get their sleeping bags all laid out and my dog (it's a shnitzu/pug mix) runs up to them. They all thought Marty (that's my dog's name) was really cute and gave him lots of pets and hugs. Nick got really into it and was licking and groping my dog but I didn't really think anything of it. I figured he was probably just worn out from the show, you know? So, we finish up the 4th season of WWE Smackdown and I turn on the night light and go to sleep. I sleep for approximately 4 hours and then I hear all of this barking and grunting. I sit up in my sleeping bag, reach over to turn on the lamp and find Nick Stuttsman and my dog, Marty, making passionate love. I told Nick to quit barking because I didn't want my mom to wake up and went back to sleep. When I awoke the next morning, they were all gone, my dog included. He left a note though. Idk how that worked since he's a dog but I guess I shouldn't be so prejudiced. I still listen to them sometimes but that personal experience has kind of changed the way I look at them, especially their guitarist, Nick Stuttsman.
