Do you buy music?
yes
pirate way more than buying though
I only buy physical shit, just got my hands on the CD for B4.DA.$$ and it's amazing, the artwork is even better than TPAB's, but mostly I listen to music via streaming. Very rarely I pirate.
The only stuff I buy, I buy off bandcamp. Supports small artists, no DRM bullshit.
The rest I pirate.

Only live music.
>>61016153

>>61016165
you understand speaking like this isn't ok, right?
just wanted to make sure you haven't completely lost touch with reality
if i want to support a band, i meet them after the show and buy them beers.

Couldn't find the chart for "Sound waves"
>>61016218
reality is for plebs
>>61016224
that's a bit arrogant, isn't it?
what makes you think that they want to meet you, or even to drink your beer?

I have never bought music.

Yeah, CDs. I have a small pool of bands I'll blind purchase new releases from and then I'll occasionally buy physical copies of things I've downloaded that were particularly great. Everything else I download, listen to however many times and then usually delete. It's not worth paying $12 for something I'm only going to enjoy for a couple of hours and I've seen too many pieces of technology die to worry about stockpiling hundreds of albums on the off chance that I might want to revisit one of them someday.
I usually only buy vinyl, but i did pay for a download the other day for the first time in years, couldn't find it online anywhere
>>61016336
>It's not worth paying $12 for something I'm only going to enjoy for a couple of hours
I can guarantee this is not a metric you apply to your life in general
>>61016224
Beer isn't really "support," which usually implies funds going into their bank account that they can spend on stuff like food and shelter as they see fit. The best way to support a band is to go to shows but buy some of their merch while you're there, don't half-ass it with some cheap alcohol.
>>61016368
this and a couple hours is a pretty big underestimation if you're buying music you actually like.
>>61016368
Aside from food, it really is. I like sandbox games that entertain for years, wear clothing until it falls apart and take good care of my other items. What else did you have in mind?
>>61015860
this
I buy stuff, but mostly off of bandcamp because I feel like my money is going somewhere. I don't really have a problem if I'm pirating an album from someone who's already plenty successful. That said, I do buy CDs and records if I'm really into it, and wanna really immerse myself in the album. Not enough hardrive space to load it up with flac's so I'm willing to pay for CDs if I want audio fidelity.

A cab ride
just bought some prince vinyls from a friend of mine for a ridiculously low price
>>61015798
I buy tapes
>>61016416
You sound lame AF
>>61016402
That's why I buy CDs with the music I actually like on it, as I said in the first full sentence. In some cases I've listened to the pirated mp3s so much that I barely touch the album for a long time once it comes in the mail but it still seems like a solid purchase since it's more like repaying an entertainment debt at that point.
>>61016436
I own a car.
>>61016402
>>61016336
do you listen to an album only once? Does it not influence you and leave any kind of trace?
>>61016449
do you play them on your boom box?
>>61016476
Usually at least twice, capping out at around five for an album that isn't likely to ever be purchased. Everything influences us so I'm not sure what you mean by that, there's just too much material out there to try to hold onto all of it. This year alone more music was probably made than I could listen to in the same span of time and the world just keeps moving, at some point you need to accept mortality and come to terms with the fact that you're just not going to be able to experience everything in the first place let alone have time to experience everything many times over. So I take time to appreciate them but for most of them it's a fleeting moment.
Only records and cassettes and the occasional used CD
I don't think I've ever actually paid money for digital music
I always buy deluxe editions and box sets by bands I really like.
>>61016476
I'm saying that two hours is a tiny amount of time to listen to an album you like.
>>61016438
HOW LOW??????????
>>61015798
only buy vinyl for albums i really like
get the rest from soulseek
I only listen to cassette tapes
>>61018187
8 bucks for 6 vinyls
>>61015798
Vinyl for the favorites, CDs for the albums I regularly enjoy. I pirate everything else.
I buy records every now and then. Mostly used though so it doesn't really do shit for the artist.
I try to go to shows whenever possible, but not that many interesting ones come to my town.
So, it's mostly pirating that I do.
I stopped pirating a while ago because I felt cheap and guilty.
Now I just buy CDs.
>>61015860
so you only buy shitty albums?
>>61016224
Helping the artists obtain liver damage is not helping them in any way.
>>61015798
Cds, records, even starting buying tapes recently for those releases not on cd or vinyl.
>>61015798
Fuck no
>>61015798
Only if really like the music or don't have any money.
