I don't spin em. I just overpay for them and listen to Spotify with ads. It's real dumb.

A mix of new stuff that I bought in the first year or two and some more obscure or used stuff that I've been buying lately because it's usually cheaper or more interesting

What's spinning right now is Ongaku 80, a compilation of experimental music from Japan

I might pick out some records to sell, because there are a bunch that I'm just not into anymore (I don't know what possessed me to buy that Childish Gambino album, I think I just liked the packaging)

I bought my U-Turn turntable about two years ago, replacing a shitty Ion USB turntable I had. I replaced the AT91 after a year of use with a AT95E. I fear my 95E is starting to wear so I want to replace it.

What is the best stylus replacement for the U Turn turntable? Will I need professional help calibrating the tracking force, or can I do it myself?
Pic isn't mine, but very similar.
>>
>>60993424

>>
>>60993317
good luck selling it. I don't think vinyls go up that much to get money. You might as well give it away desu
>>
>>60993464
There's a vinyl club at my college so I might just suggest we do like a record swap where people can bring things they aren't too interested in and swap/buy them.

Or I'll just bring them to the record store I frequent and just spent the money I get there. I'd rather have a few records I do enjoy than a bunch that I'll never listen to again

What cartridge did it come with? Audio technica? Are you looking to upgrade it? I really like the Shure M97xE that I put on my Dual 1019. its easy to swap out and setup the tone arm.
>>
>>60993504
What do you have to sell? I might be interested.
>>60993464
Depends on the release, completely.
I bought the Australian version of Tame Impala's Currents this year, 70 bucks including shipping to the States. I didn't end up liking the album very much, so I turned around and sold it for 300 bucks. Certain records are almost guaranteed to go up in value once they sell out.
That's one example, but there's been other great sells. My next purchase that I feel is 'guaranteed' to go up in value is the Giles Corey that the Flenser put up for preorder a while ago.

>>

Honestly my favorite way to find new music on vinyl is to just purchase cheap records that look interesting. My record store sells a lot of records which are cheap enough to buy without having heard of them before. If something catches your eye, you can look up info on it on Discogs (I'd stay away from looking at actual reviews) and see if it's something you'd like to listen to. I've found some great stuff that way

Hey guys, I've had the same set up for a while, what would you guys suggest I should upgrade next? Not sure when that would be, but I'd probably be spending up to $1000

My current setup
Pro-Ject Debut III
Onkyo TX-8020
Pioneer SP-BS22-LR speakers
>>
>>60997389
How do you like the pro-ject? As I said previously, I can't recommend the NAD PP1 or PP2 phono preamp enough. It shits all over the built in ones in receivers. Looking to upgrade the turntable? You've got a nice setup going there.
>>
>>60997719
I really like it, no frills and it sounds great. I might pick up a Q Up for the convenience.

I think maybe I should replace the speakers for some nicer ones, they're probably the lowest end of my build.

With the preamp, it would go Turntable > Preamp > Stereo > Speakers, correct? How noticeable do you the difference would be?
>>
>>60997764
Yup, turntable to preamp to aux in on the receiver. The clarity and bass reproduction is amazing. I was shocked at the difference. I'm running an Onkyo tx8211 and Athena audition as-f2 speakers they are fantastic. Unfortunately they aren't made anymore. Energy speakers are amazing and are the same company.

What about a cart upgrade on the project? What is it running now?
>>
>>60997389

If your still going with book shelf speakers I reccomend audio engine A5's best speakers under $500 imo

didn't see this reply, no I haven't read any more than just the intro. Is it funny? I plan on reading it, but I'll probably try and do it in one sitting

So I found out recently that Moby is gonna release a reissue of Play next year.

Should I hold on to my original pressing or is it gonna lose value?

wating for this >>60992460

at least the fact that this anon got it tells me it can't be too long any more
>>
>>60988545
Picked these up on a trip to Japan recently, was walking through Sancha and saw this really tiny antique store that had this box marked "100 yen". Paid like AU$20.00 in total, bought most of them. Judging by the years they all came from the same person, and thankfully there's only a few duds. The rest are pure g o l d.

can rec that Cee Jay 12", very good very cheesy lots of FM synthesis
>>
>>60992546
I would be confident it's your amplifier. you probably have a digital one.
Why don't you just queue the record a bit further away so it doesn't start right away?
>>
>>60992042
How long did it take to build up such a sick little space?
>>
>>60992084
>>60992213

It wont destroy your vinyl m8, it's a good entry level turntable. You're going to want to upgrade at some point but you're fine, seriously. I had one and it didnt do me any harm

Turntable and amp have found a new place. Plus an original 63 pressing of A Christmas Gift for You.

Are they the ones from the 70s? I got a set for £50 and they're phenomenal.

Actually I know why I would. I wish I could get every copy of ITAOTS and burn them all.
>>
>Pyle PLTTB1 Professional Belt-Drive Manual Turntable
Opinions?
>>
>>61011922
Reviews are good, and you can swap out the cart, which is nice. At $66 on Amazon it seems to be a deal. Certainly better than any Crosley piece of shit.
>>
>>60998721
I am moderately envious.

I loved the monitor audio's I demo'd.
>>
i bought an old turntable for $25 but it doesnt play records all the way through, it'll just start looping in the middle of the last song, why is this happening/how do i fix it?
>>
>>61012024
That's the same way I feel, just seems almost too good for the price. I'll have to do more research I guess.
>>
>>60997920
>imo

and your opinion or fucking wrong. just because you have them doesn't mean they are worth shit. they drivers are undersized, amp has massive amount of floor noise and the ports are on the back of the speakers and chuff like crazy.

you are a complete moron and should keep that shit in mind before you suggest a fucking thing

>am I still retarded?
yes
>better not be giving any advice then
>>
>>61012263
I just ordered one for my daughter, to get rid of the Crosley POS she has now. It should work nicely with the 1990s denon receiver and infinity reference bookshelf speakers we picked up at goodwill. The adjustable tone arm and possibility to swap the cart seems good to me. For $66 it seems like a steal.
>>
>>61012252
I'm guessing the tracking force is off, what TT is it?

Picked up at work today. There was no mention on our stockcount system that we were getting it in but lo and behold it appeared on the shelves today
>>
>>61011922
Looks like it comes with a decent audio technica AT95e cartridge as shown on the pics on Amazon, which is worth $50 alone.
>>

garrard synchro lab
>>
>>61008250
that's an awesome cover
never seen this
>>
>>61012658
>>61013745
also when the arm is up i can push it over to how far it would need to go to play the whole record through but there's a spring-loaded resistance once you start pushing past the point that it'll start looping at, if that helps you diagnose my issue at all
>>
>>61013745
Does the tone arm move freely when moved toward the center of the record when up? It doesn't bind or anything?
>>
>>61013865
That's odd, sounds like a mechanical issue, is it automatic?
>>
>>61013901
yeah it moves fine until what i described here >>61013865 starts happening
>>61013975
it has a switch with off, manual, and automatic in that order, but the switch doesn't seem to be able to stop on automatic, like there's an audible and obvious click going from off to manual but if you push it over to automatic it doesn't click into place and just goes back to manual and the arm doesn't move on its own or anything even if you do hold the switch on automatic
>>
>>61014124
I'm guessing some of the grease is dried up and stuck, you could check the service manual for maintenance. It this the turntable?

http://wallystoys.com/GARRARD-SL-X-3500

i think it's this one, the base on mine is slightly different though(slightly taller and doesn't have the garrard logo on the front like this one does, but other than that they seem to be identical)
>>
>>61014234
It's beyond me, I would ask the guys over at audiokarma forums, they are super helpful.

How do I clean corroded phono cables? It's slight but it's enough to probably make it sound like shit, but that's what happens when you store stuff in a bag in a basement I guess

Want to get mother record player and David Bowie vinyl's for Christmas, what a good set-up that is easy to use and does not have a lot of fancy stuff with?
>>
>>61016247
Try a Pro-ject carbon, they're elegant, minimalistic and easy to use
>>

or a pro-ject debut III if you don't have that much dough, don't go below that price though, make sure it has a counterweight

I have a Uturn Orbit Basic with a cue lever which is a lot cheaper than the Pro-ject but has been great for me. Its super simple and also has a nice minimalistic look.
