Someone rec'd me this recently and I really enjoyed it.
Som Imaginário - Matança do Porco
I'm finally going going to listen to Almendra and Pescado Rabioso.
What am I in for, /lat/?
I'm from Mexico btw.
>>60835772
You're in a hell of a ride. Almendra has more songwriter soft-rock moments, and Pescado has more of a psychedelic flavor to it, I prefer those records.
>>60835772
My advice is to get the Almendra's first record re-issue, the one with first couple singles they made. The arrangements are gorgeous. It should be in the archive.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr-0b4Wz4_c
actually pretty good
Best chilean album ever released.
Also, La Maquina de Hacer Pajaros > Sui Generis
>>60835772
people tend to prefer Pescado (i think) but personally i love Almendra; the s/t is amazing. the second album... not so much
glad someone is making generals desu. i made a few last month but had to stop once i got banned kek.
i think i'm gonna share stuff later

Out of all Charly's early output I like Instituciones the best. Nito's still there (so are his vocal contributions) to restrain Charly's ambitious approach but you still get some teasers of what's to come.
Best track, Pinchevski's violin is lovely on here.

Is it weird that i feel disgusted when latin bands sing in English
>>60835696
>Someone rec'd me this
Oh neat, that was probably me
It's a good one
Similar bands are: O Terço, Som Nosso de Cada Dia, Casa Das Máquinas, Violeta de Outono, there are probably more, you know, this progish stuff was popular everywhere around the 70s

This way non-spanish/portuguese speaking posters will understand what's being talked.
What's the best latin country to move in if you a chino, mis amigos? Which ones got the best hoes and music?
I figured once I learn a bit of spanish, I'd just chill south of the border.
>>60836877
I hate Maxi Trusso's vocals for some reason.
Disculpame por el espanol malo, estoy aprendiendo.
Tienen algo igual a Banda Nueva?

>>60836894
I sometimes go to indie festivals here in argentina and in some occassions half or more of the bands sing in english. The sad thing is that sometimes they do it in a very poor way, like even the lyrics they put up in bandcamp are wrong.

why is traditional music from the americas so much worse than traditional music from africa, asia and indo-australia? i realize the mass genocide that happened probably erased many great musical traditions but youde think some would survive. just about every african tribe had some amazing sound art or spiritual. most native american music is dull though? is it just the white washing of culture? i dont think so since even cultures connected to europe through trade and travel in the past held on to great traditions,
reposting a few ones from the last time i shared because why not

I have trouble drawing the line between truly traditional latam music and the stuff that came after colonization. Most of the trad stuff I have incorpores guitar-like and other instruments which I presume appear along with the european?
Maybe america was much more insolated than other cultures?
