His voice and his sounds are something that no one else is doing. Kid Cudi obviously isn't a Kendrick/Drake type of rapper with outstanding rapping ability but he still manages to make better music than them.
His album, Speeding’ Bullet To Heaven, is an extremely introspective and personal record. It allows you to better understand the perspective and emotions of Scott Mescudi. The album has become a bridge for white youth to enjoy the art of the black inner city and empathize with the likes of Cudder and that is what is so wonderful about art. We are able to see who he really is and understand him. The introductory interview at The Fader Ford shows that he is a surprisingly soft-spoken young man and it gives you all the more reason to care about him.
There was no Cudi before Cudi. He is not emulating anyone. He has no influences. When Judgmental Cunt came out of nowhere, everyone loved it because nothing sounded like it.
He has accomplished so much at such a young age, can you imagine what his music is going to sound like in 5 years?

Well first off, Cudi can't sing. There's no fancy way of saying it. He's just a fucking awful singer. His "vocal effects" are incredibly bad as well. He'll spend ages moaning, grunting, sneering, shouting, growling, and even fucking BLOWING into the mic.
Secondly, he isn't good at the guitar, yet the entire album is based on the fucking guitar. Each song is just the same basic, boring, short riff repeated over and over for 4 minutes straight. Sometimes it's loud and abrasive with terrible mixing, sometimes it's more quiet and calm, which ends up making the song really boring.
The lyrics are terrible.

90% of the time Cudi's repeating the same line over and over and over for the entire song. There's hardly any structure. No verses, no chorus, bridge, etc. Which isn't necessary a bad thing, but in this case it just leads to Cudi saying the same thing repeatedly. You've pretty much heard every lyric in the track by the first 30 seconds of the track. The lyrics in his earlier works were much more creative, interesting, and emotional than these ones.
It's really long. And some of the "songs" are literally demos and rehearsals. Those don't go on albums. They sound poorly recorded and they're just not good. Most of these tracks are completely unlistenable.
Oh yeah, and there's a Beavis and Butt-Head skit at the end of a ton of tracks.

The album becomes less a piece of commercial art to be consumed and instead an artifact required to 'understand' Cudi. In the first thread that was posted about this record, back when it leaked, everyone was in complete agreement that this album was fucking terrible. Now that /mu/'s realised that everyone else thinks it's terrible too (because it is), they've changed their tune because they've gotta be different from the pack.
Don't act like this record is "2deep4me" because it's not. It's a really bad album with barely any redeeming qualities aside from 2 tracks which are kinda decent in Confused and the title track.
