What are some great jazz albums with unconventional lead instruments?

By the way, I can't recommend this enough. Two multi-part suites of free jazz with gamelan-inspired percussion. The lead instrument is the cornet, but there's also flute, trombone, sax, oboe, clarinet, guitar vibraphone, etc., along with the traditional piano, bass and drums. Absolute 10/10 in my opinion.

Which is the best Miles Davis album and why is it Big Fun?
i'm going to take a history of jazz course next semester. i'm really excited as it's a genre i've never explored much, or enjoyed much for that matter. I feel like looking at it through an objective lens will help me learn to appreciate it more.
