So 4Chan, what did you think of Animal Collective's new single?
love it
sounds like cartoon music. so better than most of their other stuff.
Sounds very goofy, not into it.
It's amazing and I love it.
I really like the part where panda sings: "where's the bridge that's gonna take me home"
Very good, and reminds of Foster the People in some ways. It sounds like a top 40 hit, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Also fucking catchy as fucking fuck
It's been stuck in my head since release and I love it a lot
>Animal Collective
>good
It's like you want to be peasants. Nothing short of classical European music is good music.
absolutely deplorable. even worse than AnCo's usual shit music
>there will never be a song like Alvin Row
its like the purple bottle meets mwpp i like it
Overall, NICE. I'm not super feeling the Flori flori flori flori flori da part, but otherwise it's a real sweet tune.
It sounds like a soundtrack for a commercial of a kids' deodorant or something.
almost made me forget they're white supremesists

Noah Lennox has been described by some friends and colleagues as racist. His friend Danny Fields, the American journalist who helped him sign to Domino Records, described him as "Nazi-esque", saying: "Every once in a while there'd be something about Jews and I'd be, 'But Noah, I'm Jewish,' and he was like 'Yes, yes, I don't mean you.' He had a definite Nordic Aryan streak, [the belief] that he was physically, spiritually and creatively superior," a view he appears to have continued to maintain throughout his years as an indie superstar. According to Fields, Noah once attacked a mixed-race woman in a restaurant with a smashed wineglass, saying "I hate black people". During a performance in Berlin, the audience rioted after Noah performed the German national anthem "Deutschlandlied", including a verse omitted since 1945 for its nationalist associations.[23]

I don't miss that at all. It's such a shame because the songs would be amazing without the fucking high pitch
Especially Alvin Row
I'm relieved that it's not too overproduced like CHz. Ridiculously catchy, something different, and still maintains Anco's childlike looniness. It's not their best song, but i'm hype for this record.

The most provocative and controversial song in Nico's entire repertoire, Das Lied Der Deutschen" was the historical German national anthem, adopted during the post-World War I Weimar regime in 1922, but better known for its associations with the subsequent National Socialist government. By 1974, the first two verses of the song, including the opening lyric "Deutschland Deutschland uber alles, uber alles in der welt " ("Germany, Germany, above all others, above all others in the world") had been outlawed in Germany for almost 30 years, and Nico knew, long before she recorded it, the effect it would have on listeners. What she did not expect, somewhat naïvely, was the depth of hatred that her actions would arouse. Jimi Hendrix recorded his country's anthem and was acclaimed a patriot. Queen recorded theirs' and were roundly applauded. Nico recorded hers' and was promptly proclaimed a Nazi. Of course, given the facts of her childhood, the truth could scarcely have been further removed. Her performance itself is stirring for all that. Her voice is simultaneously mocking and sincere, a combination which resolves itself into one of her most beautiful efforts ever. Biographer Richard Witts, meanwhile, remarks how her "straight-laced but dopey harmonies [render] her provocatively clear singing...utterly surreal." There is a truth to that which should, among even the most outraged of listeners, plant at least a seed of doubt beneath the outlandish accusations that attend the song. -- Allmusic

>pic sorta related
Very generic pop chord progression, and a very generic pop structure to boot. Psychedelic textures and tribal drumming, which is a plus. Good to see they haven't abandoned it completely.
All in all, it feels like AnCo molding themselves to fit a pop sound, rather than them molding pop to shape their own sound like they've always done. Basically, the beginning of the drought in their well of ideas. 5.5/10 track. After the travesty Panda Bear released earlier this year, I'm expecting this to be their worst album by a very large margin.

I don't care about them in the slightest when it comes to legitimate music critique, but c'mon, P4k is our cultural zeitgeist - it's entertaining to guess and speculate. Especially since they seem to have totally rebranded themselves since AnCo's last album.
>>60761821
AnCo are an indie pop band that make psychedelic, free music. Spontaneous freakouts is in their nature. Why the fuck do fans of this band give a shit about a publication that poses as the central authority of good taste, when the whole point of AnCo's music is to abandon convention and embrace individual experience?
Bunch of plastics.
>>60762061
I literally said that I don't care about what they have to say when it comes to evaluation of AnCo's music (or anyone else's), and many people here prob feel the same. That being said, this is a really nice read and one of the better pieces I've seen about AnCo anywhere.

Panda has always been my go to for shower jams. I'll start listening to comfy in nautica and end up showering for like 40 minutes cuz I have to hear the whole album.
