The Noble Label. Great Japanese BC label, worth checking out
>Donation vs. price
I feel like if an album has had a certain investment of time/effort put into it (studio time, etc.), then there should be some sort of cost required of the buyer. Otherwise, it's tough to say, but in my own experience I feel obligated to donate at least a little bit

>donation vs. price
I'm strongly in favor of donations, at least for my own stuff. It's too poorly produced to justify forcing people to pay. I'm just happy that I've gotten a handful of downloads.
>how do I feel about BC
I think it's great. Can't really think of anything I'd change, although if I didn't have to pay to get subscribers that'd be swell. I also wish there were unlimited free downloads no matter what, but 200 is way more than I'll ever need in a month.
Please, Can somebody please give me a solid criticism.

It's pretty cool
Very chill
The only gripe I have (and mind you it's not objective at all) is that the vocals are too booming
As in it's too in front of the instrumental

>Donate money to name your price albums?
First off, I feel like amateur musicians who set prices on their albums are full of themselves. Unless they actually paid money to get into a studio or paid money for recording gear and etc etc, their album should not be priced. I wish I could help support all the artists who make great music but poorfag right now. You will see me throw down a buck or two every now and then but other then that I can't really.

I'l just tell you what I put in our description:
>Mystical, wild, semi-ambient, and fairly melodic in sound, not the most extreme BM out there, but hardly "Blackgaze" either. Through music, we explore the abstract connection between the feeling of dark fantasy and reality. The result lends itself to wandering, contemplation, and a sense of wonder found in the darkness of the universe. Also, Satan.

also minor announcement, i'm going to be putting the label on hold for a month or two after christmas to work some stuff out.
i need to get a job, and the tapes aren't up to the quality i want them to be.
(the paper j cards and monotone tapes i will fix, but i'm keeping the hand drawn labels because it adds an element of personalization to every tape.)
there's also a lot of other stuff that needs to be taken care of (better advertising (i don't mean viraling i mean review sites and stuff), ect)
thanks for working with us!
i will still take submissions, but they won't come out until next year.

Free Cake For Every Creature released a very short, 22 minute album last year called Pretty Good, and this was just when I just found out about bandcamp, so I downloaded it, and I'm not lying, I listened to it at least 15 times that day. I still listen to it every now and then and it's still a cute, short, release. I was kinda disappointed with the tape they released earlier this year, but their singer said a couple months ago they were recording new stuff, so I'm excited for that.
The Joel Jerome link is something I randomly found while I was using Bandcamp discover. He released an album in September 2014 (I think?) called Psychedelic Thriftstore Folk, and I was really enjoying it, so I bought a copy of it on vinyl for my birthday earlier this year. Pic related is it.
Boy Pout used to post music in these threads a few months ago, but he stopped for some reason. Really nice lo-fi cassette stuff, worth checking out imo.
>How do you feel about name your price vs a set minimum price for bandcamp releases? do you feel inclined to donate to name your price albums that impress you?
It depends. If it's a really good artist with somewhat of a name attached with them who clearly put it endless amounts of effort into their works, I would be completely fine with them setting a minimum price as long as it's not outrageous. As for people who make noise/ambient/etc bandcamp stuff, or people who are just starting off and what their music to be heard by people, I personally think a name your price (or even a completely non-profit free download in my case) download is right.
>how do you feel about bandcamp as a platform in general? anything you would change?
I think it's pretty nice, and I'm not sure what I would change.

either is fine, personally i like name your price because i know people are gonna pirate it anyway at some point, might as well cut out the middleman and give the listeners quality rips at least
>how do you feel about bandcamp as a platform in general? anything you would change?
